Has anybody heard anything about this?

My sister-in-law said that she heard this. This would be the first company to come in under CAFTA, no?

I hope this is true, so ICE can go Phuck themselves.

A number of companies are applying to offer cell service in competition with ICE. None have yet been approved. A major stumbling block, after they get approval, is that ICE has paid for the construction and owns all the cell towers in the country. No one knows if ICE will sell space on those towers to competitors and if they do what the charge will be. The alternative for a new company is they will have to start from scratch which will not only be expensive but very time consuming.

Not sure what that is about and how ICE has any effect on you. What do you spend a month for basic cell and basic land line service in NYC? My cost in San Jose is $6.35 for cell and my land line basic service is $4.25.

Let me tell you what that is about..... ICE sometimes "misses" made payments. They claim that a payment was never made and want the customer to submit another payment. This has happened to my sister-in-law 3 times in the past couple of years. They say that if the payment was made, to bring in the receipt and they will cancel the charges. She didn't have the receipt the first time, so she has to pay again, but she learned her lesson and kept the receipts from then on. They pulled that on my girl last year too. My carrier in the US has never pulled shit that on me.

Find it surprising that a Tica did not know that you ALWAYS retain your receipts. I have lived here for over 5 years and never had a utility company claim non payment after it had been made and none of neighbors or friends have either. Have some of us forgot to pay the bill and had the service cut off? Sure, but that was our fault no the utilities. All I can say is your sister-in-law is one unlucky Tica.

You're right... because it has never happened to YOU that must mean that it never happens.

Guess you missed the part that it also never has happened to others I know. Not sure why you have to get so bent out of shape about this. I certainly never said it did not happen to your sister-in-law. I simply stated that for it to happen to one person three times is an amazing run of bad luck.

I remember when every single legislator in California voted for the electric industry deregulation law.

A few years later when it went into effect it proved to be a total disaster. Prices went sky high, the “smartest guys in the room” at Enron were able to manipulate various aspects of supply of electricity to the end that California experienced rolling blackouts and prices rose. This may not be the panacea that it is promoted to be.

And always save receipts. I set up automatic payments so the Banco Nacional would pay my cell bill. Unfortunately for me they incorrectly recorded my number and for six months or so BN was taking money from my account and paying someone else's bill.

It took a long time but finally I was able to trace the error and restitution was made. Thank God I had kept copies of the automatic payment aggreement. Lesson One in CR is keep copies.
