Seeing a posting today about the NO CIEN mantra got me thinking. Now admittedly that can sometimes be dangerous or end in disaster but I plowed ahead never the less.

In 1992 when I first came to CR a hot spot for picking up chicas was a bar called Happy Days. It was a well know gringo mongering spot in the gulch.

The standard rate the chicas asked was about 3500 colones (roughly $25.00 in those days).

I decided to see if I could relate that to todays dollars. To google I went and sure enough found a place where I could enter $25.00 1992 USD and find out what would the equivalent be today. The latest data available was 2005 dollars and believe it or not the figure is $188.00

So a chica asking for cien is actually getting only a little more than half the purchasing power that girls got in 1992. Interesting.

I think your calculator is off by a lot. Inflation is usually under 3% per year. 3% of 25 is about $.75. So, $25 in 1992 with compounding is about $36 in today's dollars. The cien is not a bargain at all.

Geez...if I started going to CR in '92, I would have paid only $5 for a chica (when interpolated from what I pay in 2006) Where is the time machine? (LOL)

Somehow that seems like more 1972 dollars, prior to the dollars devaluation under Pre. Nixon.

Not trying to be impolite to Irish Drifter but $36 seems a lot more reasonable than $188. What I find interesting that in away would support Irish Drifter's thesis is that $36 is about what you would pay in a low-end massage parlor today. I am familiar with happy days and the girl you would have found in their would be comparable to the girls in a low-end massage parlors. So the price is just about the same or at least in line with inflation. In the same time frame girls in Key Largo were asking for $100 but accepting less. Now considering inflation the girls in Key Largo's replacement the BM are asking for $100 but accepting only slightly less. In short price is in line with inflation.

Here is what I have experienced ruffly of what I can remember. Numbers will not be exact but close. About 20 years ago the hotest Ticas I remember in KL asked 40-60 & the colony was 45 to 1 dollar so today they ask for cien & the Colony is what 500 to $1.

haha Everybody gets so caught up on the no cien. Honestly, I want to witness one of these stories we are always hearing of "I had a TLN with a 10 for $60. Yeah, right. I think a lot of exageration goes on about these miraculous prices.

Yeah, but a TLN with a 5 or 6 is possible for $60. I did it twice with a nice little Nica on my last trip. If they perceive that you will treat them well and show them a good time, then the price can drop.

I have to agree with you. In the morning or afternoon it is usually pretty easy to get them for 50-60 but the hot ones at peak hour I don't believe they go for much less than 80-100. Why would they, they are not that stupid & too many guys are willing too pay this for what they want. New ones that are very cute sometimes are not to keen on the scene & don't want to hang around to long to have a friend or relative spot them. These are generally easy to cut a deal with for 50-70.

Many times it is easy to read what their bottom dollar is so if you want them you are going too have to work your bargain on the other side of getting more time etc. I realize in talking to many that many have a set amount that they have locked in their brain before they come in & only want to be with one guy so they don't mind the extra time to give you as much as a cut in the price. Most seem to work with in a $20 discount range if that. YMMV

TW I believe you like the best you can find when you go out to play & that is how I like it so at some point you either pay or lose them to another guy just that simple. Many in HDR that are bottom breeders will go for 50 & some I have had offer themselves for even less but it has no value too me & is a waste of time. We are all different & they all have the basic same slot we park our Johnsons in but I rather pay to have the time I am looking for with one than make myself go with 2 I don't like just because they are 1/2 the price. I rather pay for quality than quantity & sometimes you get lucky & get some great quality for a very good price.

I think you are right. It's just a question of quality. I offer anyone on the board, if you can get me these prices I'm seeing for the girls I spot, hell, you'll never buy a drink again as long as I'm in town.

If the chicas were in the $150.00 to $190.00 range, it would not be price advantageous for me to even go to CR. As it is, after figuring in all the expenses involved in the trip, It still costs me $100.00 to $150.00 per CR session, of course, the per unit cost drops depending on how many I can squeeze in each trip, which is limited by my physical ability.

If the chicas were charging in the $150.00 to $170.00 range, I would have to consider staying in the U.S. and using the Asian massage parlors which are about $160.00 to $180.00. Only drawback to this, would be not getting the pleasure value of a CR vacation.
