In this case, I think - given the "smiley" - I think - think - he was kidding.
In any case it does not matter; I have a pretty thick skin and don't get offended very easily.
Why this issue bothers me is there seems to be zero accommodation on the part of those against smoking to accommodate those who do - I'll admit, ID I did not "study" the CR law and its nuances (however, voters in FL a few years ago voted in agreement with a simply worded amendment to the FL constitution prohibiting smoking in enclosed places - and there are many places - even some enclosed, like a bar who derives less than 10% of revenues from food - that allow smoking, all from a passed amendment that basically said ban it everywhere) - however.....in a resort atmosphere, it would not seem to be the end of the world to allow it outside, on a balcony - thats all.
Again, I understand both sides and think for those on the other side, will just have to agree to disagree.
I do stand up when I think I'm in the right, however - a couple of weeks ago, I'm in a park, in Broward County, with friends (Treetops, if you remember/know the place) - I finish my lunch and look forward to having a cigar - I pull one out - big, thick, black - beautiful, just begging to be lit and smoked.......<almost> better than food or sex
Anyway, this woman, about my age, who I knew slightly, said "You are not going to smoke that, are you?"
Resisting a number of snappy comebacks, I replied "Yes, I am - its not prohibited here, we are outside, and I'll hold it so the smoke does not come anywhere close to you"
"Now STFU and suck my C*ck" (Kidding - obviously about this sentence, but not the preceding one)
Its a knee jerk reaction many have to cigars - mine - and I truly wish they did not

- cost $8 - $10 each - they are not Swisher Sweets, or Dutch Masters, or Phillies, which are mass produced and contain a lot of paper and other fillers vs only pure tobacco in the cigars I smoke - most think of these types of cigars - which cause a stench when lit and smoked vs a premium hand rolled (not my term; its how the industry refers to them) - I honestly think if more people gave cigars a chance, they might actually not find them offensive at all - OTOH, they might.
To paraphrase John Lennon, All I am saying, is give <premium> cigars a chance
