so I go to the airport this morning and walk up to the TSA ID check podium. I whip out my global entry ID card, and TSA guy stares at it for a minute, flips it over, stares at the back of it for a minute, looks at me and says "do you have another ID?" He had no idea what it was. Thank goodness I had my driver's license with me. Now these cards have been available for 2 or 3 months at least, and they look exactly like a Sentri card, which has been around for years. Not only is the card issued by cbp, it is a part of the trusted traveler program.

I don't blame the individual. I briefly explained the card to him and said "you're going to see a lot more of them". Definitely handier than a passport and more versatile than a driver's license. But he clearly had not been briefed on a form of usa gov't ID that is specifically designed for frequent travelers. Way to go, TSA mgmt.

can I get a "wtf?"

SR

Despite being a Global Entry trusted traveller for a while now, I just got picked for secondary screening by USCIS last night when I was exiting MIA customs. This is something they tell you about when you sign up -- being GE doesn't exempt you from being chosen for secondary screening, but it still annoyed me.

As you exit MIA baggage claim, they have a new line (#4) that says, "Global Entry Travellers" but also services all passengers. Like a fool, I got in that line.

When I get up front, I hand the agent my passport and GE ticket. He looks at the ticket, mumbles something, looks at me, looks at my passport, looks at a stack of other GE tickets on his counter, then says to me "I can't verify the number on this ticket. You're going to have to go to secondary screening for verification." I say, "Is there a problem?" to which he answers, "Why are you a GE traveller?". WTF???

During all of this another Immigration goon rushes up and stands next to him, waiting to see if I would give him an excuse to taze my ass.

All I could think of was "Hmmmm.... Is this what I submitted to an exhaustive background check for?" and "Can you say PROFILING!??!?". Total BS excuse.

All ended well though - once the secondary screener verified I was actually who I said I was and that I was a GE traveller, he felt compelled to apologize for the extra 15 minutes it took to get out of customs.

Someday soon you will also see your TSA friends at sports games, malls and traffic check points.
I could tell you why this is all happening but I would be scorned by the CRT speech police for posting something that looks political. Pocoloco the gay crt speech cop might give me another FAIL notice. WTF just look and see how many queers are in your government, Big Sis (she is queer) she runs that evil TSA.

Don't know about Mr. On-the-Spot's comments but I've had similar issues and do NOT pull out a second ID (I typically use the TWIC card for domestic travel. They ask for another & I simply say no, this is issued by Homeland Security, use it. It's gone to supervisors several times & I've prevailed every time. Sorry, I just have no use for TSA, they've stolen from me too many times & proven their incompetency too many times as well.

And here we are- completely powerless to do something about it. Bit*h all we want, but TSA is going to have its way with us even without a kiss first. I guess all we can do is lift up our skirts...

Gentlemen

What do you expect they are all government employees. By definition it means no accountability or responsibility to their employers. (You and Me)

The same dope asked me twice why CR for dental after I told him price decision. He asked me again, "so why there?". I thought I was jet lagged. I thought for a second, bit my tongue, told the dope, sir, you must not of heard me, it is app 2/3 cheaper there for the same quality work. He then asks me what I do for a living. I told him I sue government agencies. Good by.

Between them searching little girls and old ladies, I wrote my US Senator, waste of time I know, got back a form answer of how dangerous it was. Saw a clip of the Senate hearing where they were grilling the head of the tsa about the little girl search and he said they will improve but will not back off. And they just fired a bunch of them in HI for not properly checking luggage where there could be a problem. Little girls and old ladies, oh ya, but luggage?

They make you jump thru hoops to get the global card and then they mess with you? Forget it, I'll stick with waiting in line.

TSA is an out of control government agency that no elected official has the balls to standup against for fear of someone thinking that they are “un-American” or support terrorists. Fortunately the “remember 9/11 chants are getting old and the outrage against TSA is starting to get some traction. As of last November’s opt-out day the media has changed sides and is not afraid to cover the crap that TSA gets into or question it’s procedures. Continued tight financial times will lead to (I hope…) a better look at TSA spending and the actual value of the agency in its present form. TSA in its present form is nothing more than a jobs program for the unemployable; the security is nothing more than theater.…

TSA rant over…

I also have gone to CR for dental work. When they ask, I tell them that I am retired and am starting a business for medical trips to CR and offer them a card and ask if I may contact them or their families to show them the benefits and savings. I do this with by best "Used Car Salesman's" approach with a big smile. I usually don't get a delay after that.

Please just look at the majority of the people that work for TSA. It looks like a fast food joint in downtown of any large city. This is not a fugged up statement. I am just saying that the policy for hiring is ridiculous. How do some of these people get jobs where they are in charge of our safety. Seriously, are you kidding? Take my shoes off? And half the time the guy who says that is flirting with the chick behind the luggage scanner. How can you expect good service or efficiency? That TSA program is one of the bigger douchebag deals we have come up with over the years. I am not saying all employees of TSA are turds, but if these are the people you put on the front lines, thank god we are really not at war..... Just my humble opinion.

Two things to learn from this

A: NEVER EVER Get in the regular line at MIA.... The Code he is referring is a certain code that is changed every 6 hours for the Global Entry its a # that is on the top of the little Card that the machine spits out. They often shall I say NEVER HAVE THE CODE in those lines. Options are pass you through cause they are too lazy to go over to the other desk and get the code or send you to the secondary screening cause they are TOO LAZY to go over to the other desk.

B: If you get an X on your little card no matter what line you get to your going for secondary screening. Its a random generator out of the system or so I'm told.
