Here's more on Brother Don Rico's pick; 1st is a 2-1/2 min YouTube vid, then a Frommer's review(which is mixed):

http://www.frommers.com/destinations/ma ... 55935.html

You can travel from this unusual hotel to dine there:

Has anyone been to the Texas Star (or some such name) in Coronado?

The restaurant Brother DiecoC mentioned is in the following Link, buried deep (scroll nearly to the bottom) and with the old-style phone #: http://www.hotelsantotomas.com/museums.htm
Other interesting venues though I don't know how old the list is.

Great Link Brother Jazz - As I was reading it I ran across this one -

Le Chandelier (225-3980) is located in an old restored Mediterranean mansion, and is just behind the ICE building in San Pedro. The menu is French, and the food is out of this world! The fare is expensive, be forewarned. If you are a connoisseur of French food we recommend splurging. = I have not been, but my loyal Wingman took two chicas there one night and he/they were very impressed with the cuisine and the atmosphere. He did say it was pricey but worth it.

Peace,

DR

Don Rico:

Live from CR:

Again again, here is my recommendation since I know quite a bit about Le Chandelier

There are nights there when they have something very special going on. They bring in all kinds of very cool live music. Anywhere from live Latina Pop to belly dancers...I would suggest you try it then.....some of those nights are "special" parties. Been over there for Tica Bachelorette parties, birthday parties, company parties, etc.

Pura Vida

Great thread - awesome info from EDB and Jazzbo. The menu at this place looks awesome - mix in some live entertainment and it sounds like it could be a homerun.

Thanks for the 411.

I can probably swing one or two restaurants like this in a trip. So the rest of the trip I am looking for high quality food at low prices and I stick to eating at Chicas houses (better to eat at Mom's house) or Sodas.

I have firm plans for Mirador Ram Luna on the 20th!

Peace,

DR

We have not had any rain in 5 days in-a-row now so let's hope that the 20th is a beautifully clear night here for you....

Mistaken again, "Brother" LH (and my, aren't you on a roll lately?). I'm working an overtime day today--easy day with not much to do and they needed coverage. "Work the expensive days and take the cheap days off." is my motto. Of course it's right spiffing to be me all the time, especially as compared with others drab, envious, miserable selves.

If you like wonderful Spanish Paella served in the big steel pans, you will be delighted by Luna De Valencia in Barva. It's quite a drive thru Heredia up the mountain to Barva, but it's so much worth it. :) :D It's only open a few days each week (Wed thru Sat I think).

Take a date or get a bunch of guys together for a feast. here's a link: http://www.lallunadevalencia.com/index.php

I usually get Juan Carlos Vega or his brother Gustavo to drive us there.

I do and I will make that drive! This thread is really helpful! I will try to hit one or two of these spots on my trip next week and post a review and hopeful some pics!

Gracias amigos!
