Wondering if anyone out there with some insight into these matters can look into their crystal ball and tell me - if you're planning on traveling between the U.S. and CR in late March, is it best to snatch up the ticket now at the best rate, or wait a while longer and see if fares drop a bit?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

GR

GR,
If you'd like to travel on TACA, check their site daily as they have specials during the week, sometimes for a very imited time (a couple of hours). They had a $386 RT fare back in Jan that lasted from 9am-3pm.

As far as timing, I don't have a crystal ball nor do I claim to have ANY insight on the matter, but I think that prices will drop as it gets closer to the green (rainy) season.

GR,
I booked my flight this week for the 1st week of April, and I still had to pay $484 out of Miami. They haven't started to come down yet, but I think they might lower them a little (eventually). I know this doesn't help much, but this is the most I've ever paid for a flight from MIA - SJO. I can't see them going up, so it makes sense that they'll probably stay where they are or go down some.

Seems like the airlines got us all by the balls lately. I'd recommend that you check airfares daily, and do it religiously. Sometimes they throw in a special fare for a limited time, but you have to be ready to book it at that moment, or it'll be gone.

Ask Orange about an episode he had with a "limited time offer" on a cheap airfare. He (basically) blinked, and it was gone!

Man.....the things we gotta go through, just for a little luvin !!!

Yep, the fare disappeared while I was typing in my info.

GR,
I just put in LAX-SJO into travelocity for last week of March and came up with a few flights for 400-450, mostly on Copa and AA with 1 stop, but AA has a direct flight too on some days.

I don't know what the usual fare is for you but those seem pretty good. I am still waiting to book for Memorial Day, TACA is stuck on $546. :x

Thanks for the info Californicationdude. But I only fly with AA. I've had real good luck with them over the years. Plus, I've already got my ticket for 1st wk of April. Sometimes I get a good deal on airfare, sometimes I don't. But I don't have the patience to watch and wait. When I'm ready to book a trip, I usually just pay whatever they're asking at that point in time. I've got a friend who flies Martinair out of Orlando to SJO once a month. He hates them, but he always uses them because of their lower fares.
Thanks again,
Mikey-B

You guys are helpful but I don't think MartinAir flies from Los Angeles to San Jose so that won't help GR much.

The end of March is the beginning of Lent leading up to Easter (April 16th).

Most "deals" are aleady out there for now till mid May. Of course things pop up from time to time but flying midweek will be your best bet.

Minor details. My point was the end of March is not going to be a good time to find a cheap airfare.

Hey, I'm not even religious, let alone Catholic.

AA is also the prefered airlines of terrorist Mickey-b.

Martin air is pretty good. Most surfers take them becuase they dont charge extra for surfboards, However the times they fly does kinda suck.

I havent really seen many airlines able to compete with martin air on low prices from Fl. The only ones i have seen beat them were some kind of super saver special.
I dont get to travel a whole lot and right now like your friend im usally stuck with martin air.

Surfdog

PS its 325 now from Martin Air :D

You may be right, but when it's my time to go, it's my time.

Did you mean to call Mikey-B a terrorist? (That's what you wrote.)
