I'm going to have a few days before, and then a few days after an organized trip through CR in early May. I have been thinking of spending a couple of nights in Jaco just to compare it with SJ and stumbled on a couple of good non-mongering reviews of Clarita's, supposedly right on the beach. The prices look right, the pictures of the staff look better, and I was just wondering if anybody here has any opinion or, better yet, maybe a comparison with Tangeri, another place I'm considering. I did a search, found some good info on Tangeri but very little on Clarita's.

The Tangeri is a dump. Checked in, checked out within 10 minutes.
Don't know the other hotel, but Copacabanna is good.

By far, the best and cleanest place to stay in Jaco is Conciones Del Mar. Right on the beach and the best staff and owner you could ask for. If you try this place, tell Peter or Marko that Ron sent you. You won't regret it.

You are right about that Old Timer. And due to the layout it might be easy to get a chica in. I don't know.
