The Mariscar has re-opened this week. I ate there last night, and it seemed to be right back where it was.The food was as good as ever. The entrance isn't finished yet,but the main floor looks like nothing happened instead of a building that was completely destroyed. The lights were out upstairs so I don't know if that section is completed.

Did they have the chicken on the menu? I often get one to go when I drop in to the gulch area.

No joke about the chicken. The restaurant roasts whole chickens and then you get them cut up any way that you want. Florida and I were in there three times and each time we shared a whole chicken cut into eight pieces. Plus we ordered other items since everything is so cheap and shared it all. Very good restaurant at very good prices, day or night.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

It just so happens they do also offer a few chinese dishes on their menu, though why anyone would ever order that with the chicken being their speciality is beyond me. Has anyone here EVER had anything else besides the chicken there? C'mon fess up.

VB,

Did Mariscar retain the Marlboro sign "Smoking can be dangerous to your health'' {in Spanish, of course} :?:

I remember a great sweet and sour shrimp dish there once dining with VB and Dino, who most probably had the pollo [chics]

Bon Appetit

Cygnus

Actually I went there with a party of five and none of had chicken! 3 orders of el pez del día, 1 sopa de pollo and one sopa de mariscos.
The food was excellent and the prices were ok too. I'll have to dig up my notes and post it.

Considering how the last question was interpreted, I expect this will start more giggles, but they also do a decent job of tongue. Lengua en salsa is a real specialty in CR. One of my favorites there is arroz con pulpo, fried rice with octopus.

I'm a Jew Boy. For us the best way to have tongue is on a kaiser roll with lots of mustard and a kosher pickle. But as long as we're talking about more unusual items I think I had some rabo en salsa there once. I can't rightly recall, I've been there so many times and though I occassionally look at the menu and consider something different, I'm not sure if I ever had. At least 9 times out of 10 I just go with the chicken. Now do I get un media o un quatro y con o sin papas fritas y salade. So many decisions! I'm usually not to big on seafood but it makes sense they would have good seafood considering their name.

Oh yeah, I've also been wondering, as long as guys are asking about such things as the Marlboro sign. What about the cat? Did it use up one of its lives or survive the fire? Need to keep that rat population down.
