Boynton :

What I remember is you declaiming over and again that you are a gourmet chef.
I will grant you that your recommendations on empanadas and pastrami were spot on.

Well, TWICE you have refused my offer of my world famous astounding Italian stuffed shells, original recipe in my family history of restaurant ownership maybe 200 years old now from Nusco, Italy...

Many people have proclaimed it to be the best Italian food they ever ate, even Italian blowhards from Jersey... :D

One guy postponed his flight back to Florida one time when I threw a party so he could eat some, them travel home the next day!

if you ever rescind your refusal...you will add them to your above list...

Don't forget the corn beef... 8)

If food is one of your deciding values, hold off on the Amistad at the moment. The arrangement to outsource the bar/restaurant did not work out, so the restaurant is currently closed. The Castillo bartenders are working both locations.

I stayed at the Taormina last weekend and noticed that the restaurant menu is somewhat more limited than it used to be.

Not a bad idea to keep your options open for the other nights of your trip. the 3 hotels you mentioned are all within walking distance of each other. Pop in and visit them all in your 1st few days to see what you do or don't like.

When I don't get a Air-BnB , I stay at the Castillo for $10 more a day you get drinks and food also laundry is done free by the staff for all guests. The PH's on the 3rd floor are great but WIfi is spotty, I did read some reports recently is has gotten a little better. Castillo has a secure gate that you must be buzzed in to enter and the front reception desk is about 20 yards from gate. I feel completely safe at SL and Castillo ... Taormina not so much ...

Talking to experienced Mongers and taking it easy is an excellent first trip strategy! You'll meet good guys with plenty of advice. Having a busy master plan just causes stress and let down. Have Fun!
