are there any hotels that have an outdoor restaurant that would be cigar friendly, been many years since i have stayed in san jose since that twat laura put the smoking ban in place. Mona Lisa used to be ok to smoke on the outside seats. Have been going to Jaco and renting a condo at Cocal and smoking on the balconys.

Nope. But you can still smoke on the street and in WiseAsh's cigar lounge.

I was told about a place over by the stadium called La Casa del Habano. Went yesterday....they only have Cuban cigars...they did seem to be authentic...but pricey.

Place is upscale, probably a place for upper class Ticos...security at the door and fine whiskeys and other drinks. Nice place.

La Casa del Habano is an International Chain of 160 stores that sell only Cuban cigars. The concept was started by Cubatabaco (later Habanos SA). They have the strictest quality controls and are priced to match. To my knowledge, they and Havana Humidor in Amon are the only two places to smoke a cigar indoors. Expect to pay $30+ per premium cuban cigar at either place, Havana Humidor has more reasonably priced non-cuban options as well.

Every cigar smoker should try a Cohiba Behike 54 ($150+) and a Partagas Lusitania ($30+) at least once.

9° North may still be open if you are in Escazu.

They are still open, but you can buy but NOT smoke tobacco on site. Expensive drinks, food and herbal (not the good kind) hookahs open during the evening.

You can also buy, but not smoke at Havana Cigars Boutique in Avenida Escazu.

It is behind The Capital Grille if you are feeling like a a $65 New York Strip (ala carte), but you won't be able to light up the stogie anywhere on the Avenida, even the Residence Inn is strictly non-smoking.

BTW, if you are a bourbon fan, you can get it at Smokehouse Barbecue in Escazu (Elijah Craig, Blanton's, Larceny, etc) But you still cant smoke tobacco on site.
