I bumped into this board back in June. A couple of days later, I joined as a VIP and scheduled a trip to San Jose (yes, I’m a trusting sort). I’ve scheduled 8 nights at the SL. I’d like to thank all of the regular contributors and especially those who have published trip reports. I’ve learned so much.

My nearest available vacation period was at the end of September, leaving almost three months from booking my trip to my departure. Help! I’m going nuts! I think I’ve read half of the board, and I’ve found an incredible amount of useful information, but I’d like to know how some of you guys handle the wait between trips. Now, every time I log on, I see a photo of the lovely Stephanie, which makes the wait even worse. Oh well, I guess I’ll just go listen to another Pimsleur CD now.

Seriously, how do you guys handle the wait?

How do I handle the wait?

1. Logging in to CRT about every half-hour, looking for new posts, replies to my dumbass questions and PM's from other members.

2. Walking and trying to work out. Obsessing about my 50 extra pounds

3. Visiting my doc and begging for free Cialis samples

4. Smoking double my normal tobacco intake

5. Listening to Latin music and trying to translate the lyrics, looking up new words/phrases in my online dictionary

6. Excessive masturbation

7. Making a list of every gringa I've ever desired and then making lists of her bad points

8. Trying not to tell any of my friends about Costa Rica

Keep in mind, that although El Ciego may be blind, he has a wealth of CR knowledge, and he can certainly see the forest through the trees!

Don't get too discouraged at first, as there is a bit of a learning curve to what he says and does, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be just fine!

One thing for sure..... throw that Pimsleur CD in the trash, and stick in a self-help / español CD. Brush up on your Spanish. It'll help, trust me!

But seriously, I was looking forward to my first trip because I DIDN'T KNOW what to expect but I'm looking forward to my second trip 100 times more because now I KNOW what to expect. This makes the wait much more agonizing.

I think I get it. Estoy enfermo and the only cure is a trip to SJ. Perhaps not a cure, though. Remember that Sci Fi movie where the hero was injected with a poison and had to injest an antidote (controlled by the evildoer, of course) on a regular basis in order to remain alive? Sort of like that, I guess.

Mikey, thanks for the sentiments. I'll take them to heart. Just one thing - uh.. Pimsleur is the name of a company that specializes in language tapes. I'm trying to listen to one every day, although I generally repeat each one for two or three days before going to the next one.

I get it here for $3 2 yr old Gold 750ml bottle , or $6 for 1 liter Navy Dark.

Usually take 6 bottles with me to CR--- great gift items , and my Novia just loves the Navy Dark Only booze she enjoys, except for Pisco Sours at a good Peruvian restaurant, like Inca Grill in Escazu.

If you think it was bad waiting for the first trip, wait until you've been! Multiply this by, uh, whatever you want to multiply it by...

Actually, first trip, I didn't know what to expect, and I also didn't really get hooked (hmmmm, just like other things) so the three month gap till #2 wasn't bad (until right before the end). I think I was mostly just in a daze, but I did read here a lot to learn about what I had just been through.

It's #2 that got me, because there was both the variety at hand, and the "special one" a few notches higher who knocked my world around.

#s 3 and 4 were spent twisting on that two-pronged hook, and the times in between --- well, I never really settled back home in between 2-3, and 3-4. And they were short gaps of a month or less.

After #4, the two-month gap has been really hard the first month, easier since (and now it's 3 weeks away! ) It's been really hard to function, without constant remembering or fantasizing, during what should have been a productive interval -- thinking hard about selling my house and getting fluid for spending more time in CR and free to move there in 10 years or so.

So, it really moves your view of the world and USA around. "Do I really want to spend the rest of my life struggling for gringa action in such a cold, unfriendly climate?" And, "What have I been doing here all these years/decades enduring life in this desert?"

What about gringa bashing?

I about have it worked out for the present:
San Jose Aug 26 to 30.
Dominican Republic North Coast Sept. 23 to 28.
San Jose Nov. 3 to 8
Possible trip to Juarez Mex weekend in Mid October.

I got airfare confirmed for Nov. at a great price today so the wait is short.Life is good.rbc100

Excessive masterbation.....I have my photos from trips "blown" up to 8x10 size, and only happen to do the excessive thing 5 times a day....uuuuuhhhh, would this be considered excessive??? 42 more days till peace of mind in s.j.,

p.s. As a master bater, It does not lead to blindness, or that would have transpired a long time ago, for me. But I do walk with quite a pronounced limp, I believe that is because my constant hard-on causes it, it surly couldnt be because of bad legs.
