Split up from the wife in July 2018. My buddy invited me to come down and relax (he'd hoped the wife and I were just having a serious spat - he was wrong). I stayed a month that first visit. Went to SL and DR almost every night. Met a super cool Tica my last week there. Also filed for divorce while on that first visit.
I had to go back to USA to take care of some business but 2 weeks later I was back in CR and all tied up with the Tica I had met that last week. Spent another month there playing house with said Tica. Had to go back to the USA to take care of some more business. Came back another 2 weeks later and played even more house with said Tica. Got into a huge fight with her (found out she had some serious personal issues). Left for USA after said fight.
Kissed and made up over WhatsApp with said Tica while I was back in USA. Returned to CR for another two weeks to play house once again. Forgot said Tica was still crazy. Left again for USA after 2nd fight.
Kissed and made up (again) over WhatsApp with said crazy Tica. Returned to CR for another two weeks hoping 3rd time was a charm. It wasn't. Left her for good this time but didn't scratch moving to CR off my list.
Been thinking about how to GTFO of current job, living situation, stress, etc. and have developed an 18 month plan. Been working out a budget with my fellow monger (he's been going to CR for the past 10 years, so I trust his insight). Been reading the forum here. I'm 90% sure I don't want to live in SJ. About 50% sure I want to live in Heredia. About 30% sure I want to live in Alajuela. Remaining surety percentages are reserved for living in Guanacaste province, Jaco, or even Limon.
Two to five year plan after arriving in CR is to find a fully self-sustaining (i.e. employed, living alone) full-time Tica gf. While I like the mongering as much as any other mongerer, I think I'm more of a one-on-one type of a guy (at least I think I am having only visited CR for roughly 16 weeks in 2018). This last paragraph may be entirely premature given the fact that I haven't visited neighboring countries, Columbia, Cuba, etc. yet. Hence the five year plan.
Anyway, despite having dropped a lot of money playing house with a crazy woman, I'm still hellbent on living the pura vida life in about 18 months. Lots of questions for those who have lived in-country for years, but I'll save that for the appropriate forum (imagine that)
p.s. Divorce was final this month
