Have you ever stayed at the Sportsmen's Lodge? Please help me decide on which room I should choose for my upcoming stay.

Which room did you stay in? What was you favorite part? Least favorite? Would you stay in the same room again, or choose a different room next time?

esportsman is in Jaco, opposite the Cocal. :P
Lots of information if you hit the "search" button on the right side top of the page and type in "sportsman".

Just stay at Sportsmens and relax and enjoy

Almost any room except courtyard (it is just a little noisier) is close to perfect

The rooms around the bar are noisy and you have no privacy, choose any of the rooms in any of the wings and you will enjoy your stay.

Please, PVD John, let me try and answer your questions.

Yes, I have stayed at the SL and enjoyed it immensely.

The rooms I have stayed in are: El Puma, Toro Negro and El Rey. I liked all of the rooms I stayed in. My most favorite was the Toro Negro as it was very quiet and nicely furnished; and, I would stay again. I have no favorite or least favorite part of the SL.

Wishing you a very enjoyable time in CR.

:)

Thanks for all the great replies. I'm hoping to stay within a budget of $100 - $120. So with the CRT card, I figure I could get a room in the modern wing.

I was thinking of staying in the El Rey because of the private balcony. Anyone stayed in that room?

Yes. Great choice. I had cigars out there every night. It has a NO FUMAR sign out there but as long as you aren't flaunting it you should be ok. A $10 bill to security and they said nothing and also they usually lock the door leading out to the balcony each night but only smiled when they saw me. Keep a close eye out, police walk by often, they saw me smoking often but never said anything. Need to be careful because I believe the hotel gets the fine if they decided to be d*cks.

Since both Bill and Manfred are members here I'm not sure that discussing break the law in the SL is a great idea.

Haha, if smoking cigars was the worst this cat did, he wouldn't have the street cred to join my group when I was still youthful, he would have had to do something much worse and return with proof, lol.

Hermosa is where you are thinking. If you are at the small balcony at the back bar that overlooks the zoo, it is the bank of windows you see to your left. It's a big room with lots of windows. I have stayed there and did not find it noisy. It's close to the bar, but the extra space and walls make it much quieter than courtyard rooms where the bar is just outside your door.

Hermosa is just below Vista Del Sol which I am booked into starting tomorrow. Glad to hear it gets positive reviews.

The El Rey has no balcony . There is a room off the little kitchen area that has a separate door and a couple of couches but no view of the outside. It has no AC but a fan an is a great room to party in. I have stayed in that room many times great room and close to the bar across from Hermosa

I wish they enforced the “No Fumar” at Sportsmen’s. There is nothing I hate more than getting in my room and it reeks of smoke!
