No chica fee at Taormina.

I was up in the air about Taormina for my first trip to CR. The rooms looked great, but when checked the map it seemed to far away from the action of HDR for me as a newbie. so with the cost of the room, the taxi back and forth, chica rate and hotel chica fee, I wasn't sure about it.

Also I mentioned in one of my previous post that i couldn't get a definite answer about the chica fee. i tried e-mailing first, and then i called when i didn't get a response, and the answers i got did;t really clear things up or me.

i guess if you don't like to walk period the proximity to HDR might be an issue
maybe 10 minutes difference between the two places albeit a slight uphill
been a while so not sure on the cost of a taxi but i would think it would be 2 or 3 colones
of course at night most would take a taxi to either just for convenience and general safety

Actually I prefer to walk. But from what I read on here you don't want to walk around at night. Plus if you have a chistillioa, i don't see her wanting to walk.

Maybe I'm not seeing things clearly, but I thought there was some distance between Taormina and where the HDR/ La Amistad and Castillo are.

There is some distance, maybe 3/4 mile to Castillo and a little further to Amistad, plus the areas you have to walk thru are not the best

well the HDR is not where the LA and Castillo are for sure
if you stayed at the Tao or Dunn inn before the change in chica fee its around the corner from Castillo and half a block up the street past NF
from Castillo its maybe 3 blocks to LA up the street a left past the SL and a right up the street a block
and from LA to HDR is probably again about 3 to 4 blocks
maaaaaybe a 3/4 mile walk from Castillo to HDR idk but that seems a bit of a stretch
as far as walking at night i don't recommend that unless you're in a group
if you must do it at night start out at a brisk pace...

i was down super bowl week and stayed at the amistad and this past weekend just back from a 4 day stay at taormina and for me hands down taormina just top notch over amistad. room i had at amistad just so out dated and needs to be updated so bad. room was small furniture all old and the bathroom could hardly move around in it so small. breakfast was just so so aswell. one day venture out to castillo to eat and took 30 mins to get my order in cause no one even spoke english to take our oder. looked like the maids were doing the cooking and had no idea what we were trying to order.
taormina is just top notch all around. rooms huge and everything updated and new and the king bed is just awsome. bathroom is huge aswell. the staff there made me and my friends all welcomed every day. breakfast buffett was great everyday and they are happy to fix you anything else too such as omlets. too me for same price i paid at both these places just no camparsion at all where i would want to stay

Super Bowl is one of the busiest weeks for us. I would recommend you try one of our larger rooms next time or our sister Hotel Castillo. When you add food, liquor and free transport to the airport there is no comparison. It sounds like you got one of the last rooms at Amistad. Give Darren a call and I am sure we can get you a free upgrade.

really this thread has nothing to do with how busy amistad and castillo are super bowl week. just camparsion to the rooms. the queen rooms are about same price as taormina rooms with king bed rooms and the rooms are huge and aswell as the bathrooms. the king rooms at castillo are even more and to me still not as nice as taormina thats just me. to me just big plus when i come home at 1 or 2 am i can go to the bar and have bite to eat and beer and chance find me another chica at bar which happen last week few times.
the time super bowl week me and my two friends walked to castillo to try breakfast there was there 830am we were the only ones at all in the resturant area just us 3. really took 30 mins just to order cause no english at all from the lady i guess was the cook to even get a soda dint understand that at all. i just think to me the whole breakfast situation there is a big cluster. every other meal was great and great service at both places.

Don't forget all inclusive you get DRINKS TOO! All beers/mixers you want and anything top shelf is 50% off.

For a non drinker like me it's not as appealing but if you drink. You simply cannot beat it.

Some guys have different budgets, so it's just another type of option on vacations.

Do you really judge a hotel in Costa Rica on the wait staff speaking English?
