jUST CURIOUS TO SEE HOW MANY OF US ARE LEFT THAT CAN REMEMBER PLACES LIKE YE PUB, GROUPO 19, ATLAS BAR, LA PERLA, MARGUARITAS JUST TO NAME A FEW. THERE WAS A TIME WHEN GRINGO,S WERE A RARITY IS SAN JOSE. THANKFULLY THAT HAS CHANGED. THERE IS NOW ALMOST UNLIMITED TALENT AVAILABLE, A HOST OF FUN PLACES TO VISIT AND A LOT OF FUN TO BE HAD. UNFORTUANTLY, ALONG WITH THE GOOD CAME THE BAD. SCUMBAGS, BEGGARS AND A RISE IN STREET CRIME. WELL WHAT CAN BE SAID. FOR MY MONEY, IT IS STILL THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD. AFTER ALL MY YEARS HERE I HAVE BECOME TICOIZED. I WOULDN,T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY. IF SOME DAY I COME OUT OF THIS VODKA INDUCED FOG, I WILL DO A POST THAT MAKES SOME SENSE.

STAY VERTICAL ALL

YO Taunis:
I see you are new on here so welcome to CRT. You might do a search on some of the old places, many have been discussed on this site. I first visited CR in the early 70's and came back on trips in the 80's. Lots of changes. A number ex-pats use to always meet at the McDonalds on central in the early days. Personally I liked the CR back then much more than now.

Hope you enjoy being on the forum. Pura vida.

Damn if I'm going to repeat this shit again. I need a drink.
I've been drinking vodka every day for 45 years and I have certainly never found it to be habit forming.

I only wish I could have been here in the early days like the 70's.I maybe could have had I known about it had life been different.Turned of age in the early 70's but got married soon.Hell I didn't even have to,off course biggest misstake of my life.I only first visted in the Mid 90's with the gringa wife but not San Jose srtictly as a tourist to places like Montiverde and Arenal.First visited San Jose last Febuary to hobby.I would be most interesed to hear some of your guys perspectives who have been around a long time back in the earlier days as to what it was really like.I would expect it was a lot better or it would have been for me.
I spend almost al of my time in the local scene now to get away from the gringo scene.I go to Del Rey to meet my freinds on the board
