Very well put. This is the point I have been harping on forever. This also applies to the so called extras. They are going up. Two days ago I was quoted $30.00 extras at one place where the hour is $36.00. Zona II girls are going nuts on the extras too. Brings the price up to $80.00. Crazy.

Seems like a simple solution.....if you believe CR is too expensive--don't go...If you think a girl is asking for too much, move on...if you think a bar or restaurant is charging too much--go somewhere else..........it's the same couple of guys whining about prices on thread after thread.........Mkink makes a good point....

As a fan of free markets, the system works fine.
the ladies have been asking for cien as long as I can remember (at least 15 years), and guys have been paying it and some find value in that number. It is CR and finding good, consistent and reliable service is not that easy. Money has nothing to do with it.
It's fair game, The ladies may conspire to price fixing, and the customers may conspire to keep prices down. It will cost you to filter through the crap, anyway you look at it.

I have paid $200 and I have paid $16.

Enough is enough of this topic.

$Cien is the starting price in SL or HDR, Much more in Jaco. I think it's a psychological number that these ladies grab onto to. But price doesn't get you better service. The hard core ones live a constant party life, and I avoid them.
There are many that are truly in need of some help and are a little timid, I like to spend time with them and treat them nicely. The action is fresher and more 'honest' $60 or $80 is a lottery for them ( actually, $54 or $72 with the exchange rate)
Tourists with a budget don't care, may or not speak enough Spanish to negotiate, or aren't paying attention to what the provider really needs today. It could be $45 to pay the electric bill , etc..
15 years ago, $1 bought you 283 colones, today it's more like 570 colones. Prices have gone up, but the $cien has remained a steady starting price. We are paying less than we did a decade ago, Think about that..
I honestly don't know how the average tico survives in this environment.
Living here I keep colones and offer between 30 mil and 40 mil, take it or leave it. I know of DR ladies that will provide a BBBJCIM for 15 mil, if asked nicely. And there are absolute thieves and liars clinging to the cien
This thread is useful to the fellows that don't want to waste any extra budget than possible, and get an insight into the real CR.

Thanks for the bump MG, I remember having a very interesting discussion with you on this topic, over breakfast, at the La Amistad years ago. As I scrolled thru the thread a lot of names of posters that that are long gone from CRT and others who have passed on.

My first trip to CR was in 2005 and I paid the dreaded cien back then. When adjusted for inflation I wonder what a cien 12 years ago is worth today?

The point to me is what am I getting for a cien? A cien is not too much to pay if you get what you want. I keep thinking if I could find pretty sexy hot latinas in the USA who would fkkkkk your brains out for $100 I would never bother to visit CR or anyplace else.

Several times I have talked with certain chicas who were at least in my eyes incredibly stunning and they said they don't take less than a cien. I would say no problemo if I get no less than this and this and this, etc., and I chat her up a bit to see if she's interested in delivering for her money and if we click. if I detect a standoffish attitude, I move off. if we click and I detect she's sincere, off we go.

Several have surprised me and given rock em sock em WWF sessions lasting up to 3 hours and I didn't even ask for it, I requested like an hour and 1/2. I'm detecting some of these girls review getting cien as a tribute to them and they provide the payoff in spades, you just have to hunt and search, don't be in a rush, avoid the arrogant strutting aggressive ones, the diamonds are often the cute quiet girls sitting by themselves who are willing to take the time and talk to you and show interest.

If you readily agree to cien before discussing your expectations, you roll the dice, and at least a 50% chance exists you'll end up unsatisfied or at least only mildly satisfied and even more frustrated because you just paid $100 for a $40 at best session...

That is quite right, the girls have expenses too and they go up with everything else. It's just that some of these guys are just cheap bastards who want to screw the both ways. You won't get the best service after beating the girl down on her price.
