I tend to pick my dates,then use kayak Orbitz to get prices normally low price=longer flight times.Once the cheap airline is found ,normally you can change departing airport.Bought ticket end of June for 6 day trip in August 424.oo out of Pittsburgh One hour layover in Dallas, return home is a bit longer.I also upgraded ticket to first for 75.00 a some miles.I treat the whole trip as a lesson in how cheap can I complete this.

I am not a travel expert, but I question the above information. Are you saying the airport has control/authority over passenger ticketing? If that were the case, why did United apologize and give compensation to the mother of a Ch*ld whose seat was sold to another passenger. Shouldn't it have been the Houston airport?

I agree with your message if you replace "airport" with "airline".

The airline employees working at the airport have final authority;not the airline employees working in reservations.
