Last time I was in Jaco, somebody mentioned to me in passing the name of a neighboring hotel to the Cocal that is also chica-friendly and possibly a little more affordable. I think it may have even been right next door or across the street.

Does anybody know the name of such hotel if it exists? I'm looking for alternatives to the Cocal.

Thanks gents!

Might be the Mango Mar? Hotel Poseidon and Hotel 9 are close and chica friendly.

Here is an old thread with some info... in this link(s).

Hotel MangoMar 3 min walk to the CoCal Bar, chica friendly, 24 hr security, rooms are just as nice as the upstairs parking lot rooms at the CoCal & a good bit less expensive!!

Stayed at Mango Mar on Christmas day with my girl and her son. $120/ night for the 3 of us. Had a friend next door at Cocal and he paid $160/ night. I am sure the prices at both hotels will come down after the holidays. Cocal's rooms are newer and nicer than Mango Mar's. It is right next door to Cocal about 20 yards past the Cocal gate so it is an easy walk day or night. Wifi was okay and a free breakfast is included. Our room had 3 beds, refrigerator, newer flatscreen TV, and a suicide shower head. The balcony overlooked the pool and ocean.

I seem to remember a glitch in their reservation process. You have to fill out the form & email or fax it back to them first.
here is a link to that booking page:
