One of the thai ladies here in LA just booked on China airways to Bangkok for $756 rt!
Not sure i've ever seen it that low and I'm strongly considering checking it out although i hate an 18 hour plus flight in my future.

Singapore Air is running $899 IAH to Bangkok.
Tempting but a long time in a small seat.

Maybe this airline is another option.....Heard more raves about this airline than any other for traveling long distance.....The price isn't bad either...The Emirates Experience Flying with Emirates

Enjoy up to 1,800 channels of programing plus SMS, telephone and email

We designed our cabins in our Economy Class to create more space and comfort. Personal seatback monitors provide up to 2,000 channels of news and entertainment programing. And to ensure that you're able to stay in touch while in transit, we offer SMS, telephone and email service at every seat.

We understand that air travel can be tiring, which is why we designed special lighting to reduce the effects of jetlag and spacious seats in every cabin.

There are a ton of great fairs this winter and early spring to SEA.- many under 800 from the west coast.

In terms of seats, I try to get to the airport super early and get the emergency row aisle- almost always have been able to. That plus an ambian or trazadone and the trip is manageable. Movie, eat, ambian, and almost at first stop. Then a short layover and time to Phuck!

isn't this something that can be done online 24 hours in advance or do the SEA carriers have different policies?

Depends on the airline. Not all let you select seats.

Am in Thailand now. Flight time is worth it once you are here. Stay away from China based airlines if routed thru Bejing. Hate to say this, but many Chinese are just plain nasty and dirty. No manners, either.

I don't know of any airline that allows passengers to select emergency exit seats online. They need to see you at the airport to make sure you can actually assist in an emergency landing (a.k.a. crash).

You are always at the mercy of where the airline is based out of. I just flew Qatar... ranked 1/2 in the world. Although service was ok and seating was relatively comfortable... Since it was an Arab based airline, a majority of the passengers were Arab. When you have too many Arabs in a room together you can smell it!

Try flying a Korean flight with all the Kimche smell on the plane. It comes right out of the their skin.
