How does hiring a girl work at HDR if you are not staying there? Been trying to research that answer but can't quite find a straight answer to it. Can you get a room for the hour or some other arrangement? I'll admit to being a newbie and I'll be in CR for business staying at a different hotel with the team in another part of town.

New guy walks into a newbie forum and, after admitting his newbie status and actual purpose for his CR trip, asks a newbie question. Gets answer to his question post haste and then gets sarcastic response from old timer "Aqualung". Other posters jump in, hijack the topic and for 7 pages people go on about costs etc.

"Aqualung" then posts sarcastic response complaining that newbie didn't respond correctly to his question which was answered in the original post and suggests he, Aqualung, has no alternative but to open his veins.

I think opening veins may be a valid idea and wish to watch said bloodletting.

Mcleod, I hope you find/found what you were looking for and will have an opportunity to return and spend more time doing what we all like to do around here when we aren't busy bashing other posters to these forums.

There's some who might buy tix to this blood-curdling event. But the more serious point is an increase in, shall we say, injecting personal agendas into straight-forward posts. I'm talking tenor and tone, not particular individuals but it can get out of hand quickly (who hasn't seen Boards destroyed because there was no firm hand on the tiller?--yes, I know what Board this is, and its purpose and constituents so some rough or extended talk is to be expected...A little closer monitoring would be special though...

It certainly is not my intent to destroy this board. I was trying to inject a bit of humor as well as comment on some posts that I thought were over the top. Sorry you were offended Jazbo. I have edited the post.

Done and done, Bro. I appreciate your reconsideration...but my post wasn't aimed at you in particular--there is another current Thread that is getting a bit beyond scathing into nasty territory. If anything, mine was a call to the Admins to let folks know when Bros are getting close to or over the line. << I'm kind of feeling awkward here--I just suffered a 3-day time out on another Board for uttering "contentious words" so the word "hypocrite" hovers over me.

I think opening veins is over the top hyperbole and would never condone such behavior.

Mcleod, I hope you find/found what you were looking for and will have an opportunity to return and spend more time doing what we all like to do around here when we aren't busy bashing other posters to these forums.

No he did not answer it Slim - still has not although we have all this nonsense over a guy who is not on monger trip, and had one day in San Jose         And the first time I asked, it was in a very courteous manner. No matter, I was correct about what his motivations and plans were.

But I'm not taking the rap for this off the rails thread - don't guys like you realize that when threads get derailed (like about 95%) its other info guys want to bring up - besides its a message board - all to one extent or another get off into other comments.

As Billy Joel says:

(We) I didn't start the fire

You may be of the persuasion that its better to turn the other cheek, but I'll be god damned if I'm gonna be personally attacked and not respond to it - especially when they are posting stuff that is just plain wrong and untrue (I also got a PM recently as to who Loco Mike may actually be - if true - and I don't know or really care - I'm getting attacked by a sock puppet     ) Whick started as a response to info about my personal life - which frankly is no one elses business - unless someone else is gonna pay.

The open my veins reference was satire, as was I suppose, your reference to my handle - Aqualung is an old brand, so I'll assume you know nothing about SCUBA -

I hope what I wrote gives you some food for thought and as to "over the top posts" - well, one mans over the top is debateable by others - but know this I'm goona respond in any way I deep necessary, especially when being unfairly attacked.

You also missed the "emotions" at the end :P :P :P :P

Dear Scuba, I can only speak for myself. "Guys like me" fully realize why and how threads go off the track. "Guys like me" who make general cooments about such things happening were, in this case, pointing out the absurdity of comments made in threads that started out as very simple, and to my mind, perfectly appropriate questions in the correct place, topicwise, on the board.

In this instance I was mainly pointing out what seemed obvious. That would be that, Mcleod asked a legitimate newbie queston, admitting his status and stating that his purpose in CR was business and that he was hoping to squeeze in some mongering during his short stay. You say you asked him twice a question he didn't answer. Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought your question was if his trip to CR was business and if he hoped to squeeze in some extra curricular activities. My coment was meant to point out the obvious, ie he answered your question in his original post.

Let me put it another way. What was your question to Mcleod?

As for my awareness of self contained underwater breathing apperatus vs Aqua lungs lets just say I watched Lloyd Bridges enough in my youth to know one from the other. Another feeble attempt at humor on my part that swam right over the head of you and others.

I have too much time on my hands, obviously. Sometimes I just can't let the absurdity pass without making a like minded comment. Have a nice day and remember the words of a "guy like me". We are suupposed to be having fun here. Try not to take this stuff too seriously. Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think! :!:

Actually, Slim, I don't take it too seriously - seriously! - - what I don't enjoy are the personal attacks by those too stupid to realize humor, satire and decent writing. And yes, LocoMike/J.o.n.s.i.e and your "amen corner" your phone is ringing for you and all your sock puppets.

Of course I got your reference to "Aqualung" and while I loved the Sea Hunt TV series, if that is your reference, its way dated - but I got it

I supposed that Mcleod was down on a business trip and wanted to monger a little, i.e. the purpose of his trip was business not personal - I asked him was I correct, and he confirmed in a <much> later post - as it turns out, all this nonsense over someone with only one - ONE - night to spend in San Jose

You know, Slim, I can't tell you why some threads take on a life of their own, and how almost every thread seems to go off on tangents - I suppose its like the old K*ds game "Telephone" where, by the time you get to the end of the like the message is totally different than when you started.

I will tell you this - I'm not famous for tolerating bullies and personal attacks, especially by sock puppets - if you post, its my right to respond - if you don't like the manner I do so - put me on ignore - problem solved.

The personal attacks began when I responded to a question about where I stayed while in San Jose - you would have thought I said the Hotel Nuevo Johnson, or some of the shit holes near the Mercado.......... I'm not gonna shut up, but I'm gonna think twice about disclosing ANY details about my personal life.

This is the untrue bull shit I should not have to put up with - love me or hate me - does anyone think I know nothing about CR and never go there <although if you consider 4 times a year"not going"    I guess I'm guilty    ) - since when was going to the HDR the mark of those with a clue - its the main option of those without one IMO - many thing you can accuse me of but a phoney and a fraud are not even on the list (and on a certain level I do wish I could wack off all day......) Cigars, like beauty I suppose, are in the eye of the beholder

Prof. Emeritus Scuba B. Einstein has been shown to be, by clear and convincing evidence, a phoney and a fraud. He barely goes to CR, doesn't shop at any of the venues that we do, he stays in his crappy room at the Morazon and smokes nasty cigars and jacks off all day. He doesn't go to the HDR which is about 1-2 minute walk from his hotel. He is just one of them know it all wack jobs that has nothing worthwhile to do so he goes on CRT where he can be Mr. Bigshot

Great link, indeed that is Aqualung! Thanks Jazzbo. Once again I see our musical tastes run along the same lines.
