How does hiring a girl work at HDR if you are not staying there? Been trying to research that answer but can't quite find a straight answer to it. Can you get a room for the hour or some other arrangement? I'll admit to being a newbie and I'll be in CR for business staying at a different hotel with the team in another part of town.

The girls are independents. They can go anywhere they want. If you make a deal, and you are not staying at HDR, you take them back to your hotel/house/apt/car, whatever you agree to. You can catch a taxi riht in front of the entrance/exit. (Don't take the ones parked out in front of HDR, they will charge you 3-5x the going rate.)

BTW- HDR does not rent rooms by the hour. But there are 2 hourly motels within a block from HDR and one a few blocks away.

Welcome to the Board, McCleod. It sounds like you need to find a short-term "love motel." You have several options. A popular option is Motel Eden less than a mile from the DelRey. There are other closer ST motels to choose from as well. I am not sure of the current rates, though, as my information is somewhat dated. Another option, is to get a hold of Sportsmens Lodge and see if they have any short term rooms available. For me, Sportsmens would be my preferred option. It is close, easy to get to and comfortable. Bill (aka True Sportsmen) may chime in with the current policy and rates for ST rooms.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. That complicates things a bit but now I can plan for it.

Here's another option (already alluded to by Orange): stay in your business hotel with your team, but get a "play room" at the HDR, Mona Lisa, SL, or another chica-friendly hotel in the Gulch.

HDR will charge you 11 per chica to get one up to your room. The others do not have a chica fee, but you'll have to taxi it (or walk it, however this isn't recommended especially at night).

Good suggestion MH. I would recommend doing that for sure. Also look into the Dunn Inn. Chica friendly, CRT discount, one block from whatever Scores will become, about $2 cab ride to Del Rey and Sportsmans, walk to NF.

The standard room at Dunn Inn is $75 with the CRT discount or around $65 on Hotels.com (go figure).
Mona Lisa, same block as Dunn Inn but across the street (formerly Clarion Amon Plaza) has rooms for around $40 + tax.

Motel Eden is now "Ruta 32" and is about 5 miles north of the gulch.
(updated Jan. 11, 2015 after reading my good friend BlueDevil's post below): After studying Google Maps I would guess the distance from the Del Rey to "Ruta 32" to be about 2.75-3 miles. Calle 3 meets Ruta 32 at the Radisson. Motel "Ruta 32" is still about 3/4 miles further north on the left.)

5 miles? Unless I'm thinking of another Motel Eden, I believe it is much closer to the gulch than 5 miles. The motel is located about half a mile north of the Mona Lisa where Calle 3 turns into Ruta 32 just past the Cinco Esquinas turn-off.

You're thinking of La Oficina.... no wait, never mind. I re-read your directions. Oficina is a few blocks from ML/Zona II/Scores.

When you take the girl to your hotel, make sure you had a good long conversation with her and feel good about her coming there, NEVER use a taxi she recommends, "my friend"...ALWAYS pick an independent red legal taxi. make sure you have your agreements down pat with her and make sure your hotel is chica friendly, most of them don't mind going to a different hotel, I used to live all the way in Escazu and almost all were ok with the trip, they will hit you up for another $5 typically when they leave "for taxi"....

Yeah, that $40 rate at the Mona Lisa does not include what they might steal from your safe. For $25, it's worth the difference.

I've stayed at the Mona Lisa for a week almost every month since they took over from the Clarion. Having talked to countless guests I have still yet to meet one who has lost anything there as a guest. This whole safe thing is beginning to be a lot like Elvis sightings.

Unfortunately I didn't have the same experience as you. As a matter of fact, I can tell you that they do have a problem. But as I've stated here before, I really like the place.....to say they don't have a problem is just not true. Whatever the reasoning is for the problem, I don't know. I was there and I know what happened to me and I know others who also had safe problems. Good for you if you didn't have any problems.

Just beware the feline thieves. Actually, I would consider staying at the ML, would lock my valuables in my suitcase, just to be sure.

I actually only stayed there once and I loved everything except the fact that they tried to steal all my shit....lol My dumb-ass actually thought about going back on my next trip....but I just can't do it. They were so scandalous with the way they treated me and the way they acted after the shit went down....it's just crazy. A few bad apples are really phucking up a good hotel.
