Total newbie here, not sure where to stay and am getting a little psyched by all the warnings to not go out alone and take cabs everywhere. So, I'm going to be in SJ for just one Sunday night, getting in around 11pm, and was hoping to find a chica for some fun before catching my next flight at SJO at 7:30 Monday morning.

What's going to be easiest for me to find a chica, get some sleep, and make it to the airport in the morning for my flight? From what I understand I can stay at Hotel Amistad and walk to SL w/o having to take a cab, walk a girl back, and be OK. What about the Mona Lisa? I can find a girl in the bar there, right? How long of a cab ride would it be from either hotel to SJO in the morning? I've got to get to my flight about an hr ahead of time.

Thanks, I hope I can make this work out...

I almost never recc a guy stay at the Hotel DelRey, but in your limited timeframe & situation I would. The pickings will be slim for finding an avail girl after 11pm on a Sunday night at the SL, prob not at the ML either. Catch a cab from the airport to the Hotel DR, get a room, & you will find some avail girls at the the DR or Key Largo next door. Have a good time with her, get some sleep, & figure about 1/2 hr. to the airport in the morning.

A ok. Was hoping the SL would still have something going on Sunday night. I actually get in a little earlier, but probably won't make it to the bars until 10 or 11. The "aggressiveness" at the HDR kinda puts me off, but might be different on a Sunday. The SL only has pricey rooms left the night I'll be in town anyway.

I'd have to agree. Within that time frame the Del Rey is your only practical option that won't have you trying to run around in a city you don't know. Check in, grab a girl, have some fun and get some sleep.

Bump! Need hotel ideas for the night before my early morning flight home which is 7:00 a.m. on a Friday (July 18).

A friend who has been to CR says I should get an airport hotel. Is that necessary or just a good idea to provide a margin a safety? How do I get a cab so early in the morning and in the dark? thanks a lot

Your choice of hotel should depend on the amount of time you have the evening before your flight. If you have the whole evening, you can stay anywhere in gulch. There are usually plenty of women at the SL on Thursday night until around 10pm. If you will be looking for a lady late Thursday night, you should stay at the HDR. Just a note about the airport - you should leave your hotel no later than 5am. There have been reports of passengers being refused check-in at the airport if you are not there at least an hour before flight time. If you ask the hotel front desk to get a taxi for you, make sure they call the taxi company, and not direct you to the taxis outside the hotel. The taxis parked outside the HDR and the pirate taxis outside the SL are mostly rip-off artists. One Lucky Dogg (CRT advertiser) should be able to help with or provide transportation.
