I want to pick a place to stay that will make it as easy as possible to pick up ticas. Which one is the better place to stay for a newbie when it comes to girls, location, price, quality of rooms, etc.?

If you like fixed prices, a good lineup, and nice rooms, HLH.

If you enjoy negotiating, more selection, socializing, and a variety of rooms from basic to very nice, Sports.

You'll find plenty of ticas, nicas, and maybe even some Dominicanas, cubanas, and who knows what other nationalities in both places.

Can't go wrong in either place.

best bet for any new guy is to try both places...if you stay a week do three hlh then sportmens 4.. this is the only way you will find which place is the best for you.. one thing you need to ask ( do you like indy girls or mp???)

depending on when you book, you may end up taking whatever is available, but i recommend visiting both locations...in addition to numerous others. hook up with anyone on the ground when you arrive, most will steer you in the right direction.

There is a lot of talk on CRT about noisy rooms, especially the Courtyard rooms at SL, most of which open directly into the bar.

If noise is an issue for you, ask about it here and when making reservations.

My vote for a newbie (and for me) is HLH for many reasons, but both are great venues.

MiamiH said it perfect. Both are really fun and easy for a newbie. You will have a good time at either place.

All the above. 6-5 pick'm. Either way (actually, any way in The Neighborhood), you are miles ahead of the casual monger.

This is a thread that you have received great info from all of the posters - either way, you can't go wrong :)

SL hands down. I feel way more comfortable bringing a girl to talk to and hang out with at SL. Great atmosphere. I like doing the TLN's so it works well for me.

For a first time I would recommend the Sportsmens. You can meet a lot of vets at all hours of the day to get a lay of the land. Also you are going to see a lot more and varied women in the SL. Best rooms for the money are in the modern wing. The Courtyard rooms are less expensive but can be quite noisy and everyone in the bar knows who you are taking into your room. If you have the budget, the mansion suites are awesome. Spacious, jacuzzi tubs, king size bed, they are incredible.

If you do stay at the Sportsmens, be sure to vist HLH. They have a great happy hour and lineup. I haven't been there since they started serving food, but I hear it is pretty good.

yes you will pay a few dollars more. perhaps more if your negotiaiting skills are not good. girls in hlh are of the fish in a barrel variety w a set price for the basics and might ask you for tips.
girls at SL will likely start you at 100 and see how much you will pay. one poster just wrote a trip report saying he got every girl except on to go for 50. he has been around and a newbie is going to probably be lucky to get girls for the 60-80 range.
however an SL girl is going to be an independent and you will get more of the "natural" feel of picking up a random girl at the bar. just a matter of what you like. as the others have said you can base out of one and walk to the other and find out what you like better.
my personal opinion would be basing out of SL for my first. i did. and got laid first at hlh or the old zona blue as it was called. hope that helps.

Just for the record, this is my first post and I'd like to say thanks to everyone here at CRT. I've joined other message boards (won't say which ones) in order to discuss my mongering hobby and while most of them are fine...you encounter the occasional (or not so occasional) asshole. Some of the boards can't wait to blast folks or get royally pissed off if someone dares to ask a question that might have been answered already on page 34, thread 9, post 359 back in 2007. This spot seems to be a little more mature and full of great info....just fellow mongerers trying to enjoy life (and banging Latinas). Thanks again!!!

$60 is the normal price at SL for me. Never more. If they don't like it tell them that you can go to New Fantasy,HLH or Relax for $40. They usually change their minds pretty quick.

Negotiate what you want beforehand BBBJ, DFK etc. etc. etc. before you negotiate the price. There is nothing worse than negotiating the price first, then getting to the room when she says you can't touch me here or there, or this costs extra bullshit.

Honestly, I say the Sportsman's Lodge fits the bill for most situations. There really is nothing like it anywhere. The HLH is good for a specific purpose but may be too intense for stays longer than 3 days. The Freebird is great for private people and non-drinkers, very low key and affordable.
