I have been here for 5 months now and it seems the quality and quantity at HDR/KL is lower. I hear the $100 request but most of the time you should be able to get them down to $60 or $70. I won't give them $100 unless the connection is really strong and they stay all night.

What is better now are the little Pensions (Bordellos). I am seeing girls there for $30 an hour ($20 half-hour) that are just as attractive as some of the HDR girls that want $100. Some of them are even willing to work with you and come over to your place and will be happy for $40 because the girls working the Penisons get 50% of the $20 or $30. I would stay away from Club Idem because they are overpriced.

I used to go to Pirata Club until I had a problem with a Columbian bartender I saw a few times but I always thought the quality was good at night and the rooms they had were nice. I think the prices were around $35 for 1/2 hour and $48 for an hour, similar to HLH. Although Club Fantasy has decent rooms, I have not been impressed with the girls or their attitudes. I still hit KL but complement that with more time at the Pensions.

I printed the San Jose map from CRT and have been circling spots (or crossing them out) based my research and reading on CRT. I will be staying at Morazan. Can you recommend any specific Pension or Pension location that you found worth a visit? Thanks in advance.

My apartment is close to Pantera Rosa so the ones I have had good luck with the couple of times have been Eros Rooms which is close to Avenida 10 and Calle 11. and Pension 1081 or 1071 which is close to Avenida 12 and Calle 13. They are usually open from noon to around 7pm. A blonde named Rutha is worth checking out at Eros Room. There are a number of Pensions off Avenida 10 and around Calle 2 and Calle 4. I was their a month or so back and they had a combination of nice to bigger and no so attractive. Pantera Rosa usually opens up around 1030pm at night and it is a strip club with girls at $22 for about 30 minutes. Some of them might be willing to do stuff on the side. If you are a CRT member, there is not a cover charge but beware the drinks are expensive even by HDR standards.

It was interesting last night, I stopped by Key Largo for a vodka and club soda and they charged me 2300 colones while the same drink at HDR was 1700 colones last night. Not sure why the prices are different.

In my travels (Asia, Caribbean, etc.), I have seen that the price of drinks is directly proporptional to how many men they can get in the door. The more men (higher demand), the higher the prices. I have seen drinks prices change based on season or whether it is a weekend/holiday. I have also seen this same rule apply to whether there is a cover charge and how much.

The prices in Bangkok and Pattaya are definitely near the "cien" when you add the barfine in, with the dollar at about 30 to 1. Plus the last time I flew there the airfare was about $1800. The Philippines is cheaper, and the girls love to spend all night, but it can be expensive there too. Depends on where you are coming from, but if you add in airfare, it looks to me like CR is more affordable.

As the owner of HLH made clear recently, Boyd is no longer at HLH BUT the guy who took over is all quality--no downgrade there. Ask for Jeff--that place just gets better.

I was just at HLH and could not agree more with your assessment. The place is being run smoothly.

Does this hotel charge a fee to bring a girl back to your room? I know Orange indicated that there is no fee, but his post is several years old and some reviewers on a travel website have said there is a $10 fee. Can someone clarify? Are there any decent places to stay in San Jose where you can bring a girl back to the room without paying a fee?

If you are a card- carrying CRT VIP member, there is no chica fee at HLH. The membership costs $39 for a year.

Look in the VIP membership thread on this board to see all of the discounts that a VIP card gets for you. You can make-up the $39 membership fee on your first day in SJ. Having a card is a "no-brainer."
