"The Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) on Monday announced a new campaign aimed to attract more local tourists.
This is a task that has not been easy for ICT, but a promising new ad campaign offers permanent discounts of up to 30 percent for Ticos only.
Tourism Minister Allan Flores said ICT is proposing "a change of mentality in the Costa Rican population. Many think that going on vacation is for weekends only, and they don’t think they can enjoy a good trip from Monday through Thursday, with fewer people and more benefits. That’s what we want to communicate with this campaign".
The campaign will run until December. For more information, go to the website: http://www.vamosaturistear.com.

I checked the website which breaks the hotels down into "beach, mountains, etc". Not familiar with most of them but Byblos in Manuel Antonio is very, very nice and the price is great.

So hook up with a Tica, she checks in with her cedula, and your set

Couldn't find out from this but you don't have to be born in CR to citizen parents, do you? Without mentioning names, wouldn't any CR citizen qualify? I applaud the intent of this campaign however, and yours is the best way for the vasty numbers of us.

Most places that offer Tico discounts will also accept a cedula residente from non ticos as qualifying for citizen pricing.
