What do you mean RAC? I am asking a question about something I heard late last night outside the HLH that sounded like 2 gunshots. I wanted to see if any other guests heard it it as well. How does this seem like I am provoking a controversial topic???

Seems like there was a lot of venom posted on this board about somebody connected with HLH who might be gun-happy having a disagreement with one of the CRT brothers. It all seemed to most to be pretty unrelated to HLH. It got so bad that Admin. tried to end the discussion.

I hope that your post doesn't raise any more issues about the security of the clients at HLH, because, IMHO, it is a very safe place to stay.

Probably firecrackers :D someone just trying to scare the shit out of some Gringo's. You know the Colombian drug dealers and hitmen are under orders to leave us alone. :D My American friend witnessed a hit across the street from Best Western a few months ago. It was in the middle of the day. As to the comment about the orders to leave us Americans alone that is supposedly true. They do not want the added attention from the Government. Why shoot the goose that lays the golden egg. They know who supports them. They were just exercising their territorial infringement rights.

Thank you gents! Growing up in a housing project in Brooklyn from the 60's to the early 80's, I had the misfortune to hear this sound several times. Maybe it was some type of firecracker, as it was more sharp then the bit muffled sound of s gunshot pop! Anyhow, I would be interested in hearing from other guests who may have heard it that night.

It probably won't bother me none. I was born in the US but grew up in the streets of Mexico. It was the norm as my dad used to take me to the bar at very young age though I wouldn't drink but there was always someone getting shot, knifed killed etc...I used to sleep on a broken down pool table in the back and heard shots all the time....ahhh what memories...

Maybe it was a duel... and they tied.

This can and has happened in the vicinity of every other hotel in San Jose at one time or another. The odds are now in favor of the HLH as opposed to against. But, this also serves a reminder why you want to take a taxi just to go up the street after dark in the Gulch.

Surprised nobody has mentioned that the HLH also has a bunch of trannies cruising the area or within a few blocks--Brother BKTuna saved my ass one night from stumbling on a "transaction". Maybe this was some kind of payment issue or turf battle. Stray bullets don't care the intended target so it's still dangerous but this has NOTHING to do with the commercial disputes as discussed here--not at 2 A. M.

BTW, thanks to Brother Zunbake3 for bringing this to our attention.
And not-so BTW, have you seen the ad here for personal protection devices (he claims all legal) by a Brother One Lucky Dogg? Won't protect against firearms and please don't get so cocky with one that you deliberately put yourself in harm's way (that's called "consuming safety as a function of protection") but it's not wrong to have some barrier to the street-mutts.
