Southwest is not my favorite airline either, but I do feel just their presence reduces costs for all flyers.

I am a fan of Southwest. I take it this is their first International foray. American Airlines needs some competition in Central/South America

It appears that United/Continental and American are working together to keep prices high in the Houston area.
American appears to have a lock on the Caribbean market, and United owns the Central and South American market. Southwest is trying to break in with International flights out of Houston, but needs Houston City Council's approval to expand Hobby Airport. United has been lobbying hard to stop Southwest and keep the Central and South American markets to themselves. Please look at and respond the the petition below!

Like SW or not. Keep flying on United or American or Delta. The presence of Southwest making international flights out of Hobby will bring all carriers prices down.

That being said, vote for this regardless. It will be a great thing to happen for the city of Houston, a well as anyone who travels south out of, or through Houston.
