Howdy,

Just wanting to attempt to compare apples to apples with boardies that have been to both.

I'll probably have some follow up questions to those members. :D

Thanks in advance for any and all information!

Well lets compare apples to apples... So that means comparing the city of San Jose to the city of Pattaya.

The big difference -
In San Jose you can find brothels...
Pattaya IS a brothel.

As someone with 7 trips to Thailand and 3 to Costa Rica, plus 2 to the DR, I feel qualified to offer an opinion.

pu*sy is MUCH cheaper in Thailand. $15-20 for Short time is very obtainable in Pattaya or actually anywhere other than Bangkok, Phuket, or Samui. Any kinky shit you can imagine can be bought in Thailand for well under $100.

The trip to Thailand is a pain, and unless you can devote at least 2 full weeks to your trip, and are young and virile enough to Phuck at least 2 times a day, Thailand's probably not worth the effort from a time and money perspective.

Lodging and especially food, is far cheaper in Thailand. Same is true for ground transportation - also, outside of Bangkok, the roads are invariably paved, with signage. More than I can say for CR.

One thing that I am disappointed in Costa Rica now is, not just the cost, but the fact that the mongering is pretty much geographically removed from the nice beach and wildlife areas, and in places where it can be found (i.e. Jaco and Tamarindo) expect to pay $80-100 per hour, and there is much less variety than in San Jose, while in Thailand, every resort area in the country has plenty of P4P in all sorts of venues.

As for the girls, In Thailand, sex is far less stigmatized than in CR, CR being a Catholic nation. Physically, Thais are thinner, with smaller breasts - but they can be extraordinarily gorgeous if you like model-type physiques. But, individual tastes are individual tastes. Thai ladies, if they find you pleasant, will often want to latch themselves onto a nice guy for days, and will do your laundry and clean your room just to insure that they are the target of your cash. I have found most chicas in CR are more mercenary about it all.

But for me, as a 51 year old guy, who can't go more than twice a day, and even then I need the occasional break, I find the trek to Thailand less and less worth the hassle, but once I'm there, it's heaven.

But CR is starting to price itself out of the market for me right now - I'm presently in Tamarindo and will be in San Jose tomorrow. I found a good lady in Tamarindo, but she's costing me $90 a pop ($80 plus $10 cab fare), and I've repeated with her (3rd time will be tonight) because I know she's above average, but it's hardly a bargain. With the bad economy, I can get laid at home in San Diego for $80-100 for a half hour session, and just across the border in Tijuana, $25-40 is easily obtainable.

A few more thoughts about the economics...
1) anything longer than 5 days I would go to Thailand. That is, if you are there to monger hard.
2) always travel at the end of november. Use thanksgiving for an extra 2 days on the vacation. It is before high-season to not overly crowded, the weather is good (rainy season almost over), and the prices are still at low-season rates
3) Picked up plenty of girls from gogo's for 1K baht. Picked up plenty of gogo girls on beach road after the gogos closed for as low as 500 baht and a bed to crash in and a buffet breakfast. Never payed over 2500 baht for a girl (and felt wrong doing that).
4) Bring a bottle of Patron or two and find a nice little hole in the wall bar with the cutest girls you can find. Pay the house a few baht and they will let you share it with the girls and we drink until dawn. I do this every time I go. I have my place that I like to go on the 3rd road from the beach.

If you don't speak spainsh fluently, then you will be lumped in with the larger group.

I don't speak spanish, so I am limited in CR. Maybe that makes me biased.

Yep, I would say so...however, not being lumped in is pretty fun too

I was recently in CR, and I would say that you can speak and understand Spanish too well. When you get to really talk to these girls, you find that most of them have sad stories to tell. Only one that I met was in it for fun, and she was married. For me the biggest difference is in Asia its easy to find non-mothers, and in CR most of the women I ran into were single mothers. I had a great time on my first trip to CR, but on a strictly mongering level, place it behind Thailand, the Philippines, and Cambodia.

Something about them Tica's, they are programmed to get knocked up very early and many of them often. Nothing wrong with that but makes it hard for a young woman to get ahead in life especialy if she's broke and alone other than mom and dad and sisters in the 1st place. And invariably in my experience with pro's, semi's, and nons that I've gotten to know personally, they get very little, if any, help from the father, although I have seen the contrary. But, it is common where the father is helping, he still gets sex even though they are not together. If not, she's often cut off.

I would agree Tom... there's are many single mothers in CR for sure. But I also know a sob story can be made up weather I know spanish or not.

I think when you talk about mongering..nothing is ever going to be as simple and "one size fits all" like Thailand does..ergo its popularity..

I've always just moved right along when I hear sob stories or baby stories. I have been around chicas with one K*D, but when they have multiples that is no turn on at all for me. Look around a bit, there are more chicas here that are not baby factories than what is indicated on the board. :D

Thanks D1andonlyDman and everyone`
Have you been to Ecuador, Nica or Panama. I am interested in more than F*cking the beaches at Bahia Ecuador seem nice and I do realize any action or much requires some travel. any thoughts and sorry to thread jack. Thailand is on the list but as you as you all said it's a long flight but sure seems like fun if you got the time. I'm 2 seconds away from retiring at 51 and will see them all before settling if I ever do.

Thanks

I´ve been to Panama. IMHO, Panama is worth seeing for the Canal and at least as amazing wildlife viewing as in CR, but I don´t think the ladies and the mongering scene are as worthwhile as CR. Panama City is a more modern city than San Jose, because a lot of the infrastructure was built up by the U.S. when we were managing the Canal. But it is mostly lacking in charm. I did Panama once, and it´s worth doing once, but not a place I´d repeat, whereas I have repeated CR and the Dominican Republic. The DR´s best feature is fantastic beaches located right in the same towns as the hobbying. DR´s worst feature is that it makes CR seem like a modern smooth running affluent country in comparison.

Pattaya is not just a brothel. Have you ever been there? It has a decent beach. There are live bands playing at many of the bars. Walking Street has many good places to eat (tiger prawn, yum). Places to get tailered clothes at a reasonable price. Good massage and manicure/pedicure (non-sex) for a good price.

I have also golfed in Thailand. If you can take the heat, they have some awesome courses. And they have female caddies (make sure you chose a cute one).

I'm seriously thinking about committing to a trip to Thailand in June. It would be my first trip there. I found a decent routing (Toronto to Hong Kong direct on Air Canada, then down to Phuket on Thai Airways) Good thing about that route is I can be in the hotel by 23:00 on the second day, instead of having to overnight in Bangkok or HK. Also, I can use some of my industry discounts and probably swing the airfare for under $900 return, all fees included.

I'll have to research this some more. Thailand is definitely on my bucket list.

Phuket is a great place but entirely different from BKk and Patts in many respects. I personally would suggest you experience all these locations if you're going to make the effort to go to LOS.

Dont avoid Bangkok or Pattaya, they are very easy to do. Check out Pattaya or Bangkok Addicts forums, they have lots of helpful information, just like this forum. If you have the time and money, try all 3 places. If you are strictly into mongering I would suggest Pattaya and Bangkok. The only thing difficult about Asia is the trip there and the initial jet lag. I liked the rainy season vs the high season; people seemed to appreciate you being there a bit more. And if you really have a bit longer time, Cambodia and the Philippines are just a couple hours away. Check out Air Asia and Cebu Pacific for cheap flights in Asia. My last trip last spring I did all 3 countries with Bangkok being the pivot point of my trip. That way you can check 3 places off your bucket list.
