If you want to get out of the gulch and enjoy a 5 star place, I suggest casa cristal http://www.casacristalcr.com/Home.aspx It is located in Bello Horizante area of Escazu which is high above San Jose city and secluded. Incredible views of the city, great hosts (from Cuba), and outstanding rooms and service. They get a lot of medical and eco freaks for customers. I've never had a problem bringing a chica there. Once you check-in, you likely won't see the owners again unless you are in the bar/ restaurant.

For me, this place only makes sense if you have a chica for extended time or all night. Too far away from the gulch to do 2 hour sessions.

I can't say enough good things about this place. The only weakness is the dinner. Only fair. But you have many 5* choices close by in Escazu/Santa Ana.

I really appreciate this info. I checked this out and it looks excellent. I am a bit concerned that it is so small it will be difficult to get lost in the crowd. That's why I prefer a major 5 star place like the IC with 330 rooms. Thank you though. This looks nice.

third world country

pretty harsh and offensive term. so you know; costa rica is a developing country. third world countries rest primarily on the continent of africa.

however, and to the point; the feature of guest registration is not [primarily] designed to harass its customers but used as an added measure of security. its there to protect YOU - the OTHER guests, and as is in these instances the girl.

Dramatist-

I think you're being melodramatic  Seriously though, I wasn't trying to insult CR. It's common knowledge that it is refered to as a third world country. Africa leads the list but the Philippines is 3rd world. I believe the true definition relates to GDP per capita. Thailand for example is not 3rd world while PI is.

As to your comment about "for my protection" give my a F-ucking break. I'm talkiing about a nice looking girl coming back to be with me in a $250 suite. I'll take a safe, cameras, and security please. I don't need them telling me whether she is allowed in my room. LOL!

Do you think they should also check her for STD's at the door and put my condom on for me. Come on.

sorry to say friend; but your “nice looking girl” could quite possibly have alterior motivation - or just an opportunist in the making, and if something nefarious arises you’ll at least have remedial recourse and know for certain who she is. never happened in the annals of mongering though: a hooker walking out of some gringos hotel room with his shit.

good luck.

I see both points of view.

Mind you I run paranoid by nature when dealing with whores. With a new girl that you are planning to spend some time with, and after you have had a chance to talk with her and what not, not a bad idea to ask to see her cedula, alot of them hate that, they need to hide their ID's for good reasons I'm sure. But that's at least a head's up for me. The name on her cedula you'll remember, but you only need to record the number. Tell her it's only the number you want, not her name, that should cool her.

If you are only going to do a 30 minute bim bam thank you mam, you have used your safe or at least secured your important stuff, and you're fairly sober and don't roll over like a whale for na-na land once you finish, and you've been careful what you drank since you hooked up, probably not necessary.

With that in mind, the check-in thing is annoying but that's in part the new hotel law in CR for the past year or so, name and ID of registered guests are required, and most SJ hotels have always extended that to "guests", but now they have the new law to support them, their extending that to temporary guests is a breeze. I never have that problem in the beach towns I go to other than hotel Costa Verde before hooking up with my reg there along time ago.

I'm more careful than anyone is. I'm skeptical and mistrusting of every chica. I don't close my eyes without knowing everything is protected.

The hotels could give a Flying F-uck about my safety. They simply don't want to lose business from potential guests not caring for skanky whores in the lobby. I have more common sense than that and I don't need them dictating my decision for me. Why is it acceptable to bring a girl to a hotel in USA, Canada, Mexico, PI, LOS, Europe, etc.... but not in CR?

Give me a break. They're not doing anything for my F-ucking protection. They are doing it because they think it's the right FINANCIAL decision. It's always about the money.

PS- I think you meant to write ULTERIOR Motivation. ALTERIOR is not a word.

The only reason that some hotels in CR prohibit working girls from entering is because of complaints from fat gringas and fat Euro-gringas who are jealous and see their husbands' wandering eyes.

I always wonder when this subject comes up, is there a shortage of hotels that allow chicas in Costa Rica?

I will say in Dec. 2007, I was in SJO with some friends and we spent 3 nights at the Presidente and then they took off for the coasrt where one of them lived years ago. I was able to bring chicas back to the Presidente but one time I had to buy pair of jeans for a chica to get her in. So I need Fri and Sat nite rooms in the gulch. I went to every hotel SL, LAaMISTAD, BALMORAL, CASTILOO I could think of and finally the MORAZON had no standard rooms but I got a Jr Suite which was the only room left. However the GRAN HOTEL, HOLIDAY INN had many rooms available. In fact the GRAN HOTEL wasn't even half full. SLEEP INN had a room one night. I will say that weekends in high season that chica friendly hotels fill up much faster. I hope someday the GRAN HOTEL will hire a manager who wants to fill his hotel up and drop the no chicas allowed. But personally I would never consider a hotel that charges a chica fee

I don't understand why people dog on the Presidente or Holiday Inn for not allowing or discouraging mongers and hookers. That's not the kind of business they are looking for, it's their prerogative. They certainly realize that once they get the rep as a monger/hooker hotel, then that is all the business they will get, and that is not their business model. Sit in the dining room at Amistad at breakfast time and listen to the very open and loud conversations going on. They don't wanna deal with that shit and I don't blame 'em.

I agree with that but there is a tremendous difference between a guy who enters the hotel w/ a reasonably dressed girl and conducts himself with discretion and class vs. the trashy scenario you describe.

If he or she is the least bit out of line, throw them the F-uck out. But don't penalize the guys and girls that handle themselves the same as a BF/GF or married couple do.

Another nice boutique hotel you might want to look into: Beacon Hotel in Escazu. Not good for mongering, but no problem with GFs or favoritas. Although not a large property, excellent service and facilities.

As to the Intercontinental - having stayed there a few times for business I can tell you there is "trade" going on but IIRC there IS a "guest" fee ($50?).

I do have two friends that stay at the Intercontinental. They do have girls meet them there but they are somewhat, 'high-rollers' and dress very well and demand their dates do the same. They don't look out of place such as a guy would if he were wearing shorts, t-shirt & sandals escorting a girl in 'hooker get-up'.

Dressing similarly will prevent many stares from security and everyone else. A 60year young guy in beach wear walking with an 18 year girl all done up with make-up, pressed hair, heals, tight pleather pants etc looks like a 60 year old guy with a hooker. This works at the usual pick up places but is not accepted by the locals (thier country).

If your wearing beach type clothing ask her to do the same. I wont let a girl come to my building in heals.
