I'm blanking on remembering exactly how they were done, but I distinctly remember liking them. When I buy 6 in Mas x Menos it is approximately 2000 colones or $4 to give you an idea of pricing.

I have passed Chubbs many times and they are almost always full of Ticos. I would like to know if they are profitable as I predicted in a post quite a while back that Tico money could make a nice American style place.

I love to see any business do well although I don't frequent places full of Ticos. Ticas, Nicas, Piasas, yes. Ticos, no.

Please leave Ernesto alone.

I ate at Chubbs recently. The fries were outstanding, the burger was excellent, fried fish excellent, the cubano ham and cheese sandwich very good. When the right event is on the telly, the place is popular with all kinds of ticos and gringos. The waitresses were very friendly to me and several other gringos as well as many of the ticos. The staff are almost overwhelmed when the place is jammed but I'm okay with that.

If that is the way you really feel you are in the wrong country.

First, if your gonna quote a sentence, it is not correct to leave out the following antidote .

Icantstayaway wrote:

Icantstayaway wrote:

Quite a difference. And , guilty as charged. You show me two rooms, one full of 10 guys and one full of 10 girls and I'm probably gonna want to sip a cocktail with the girls.

I choose to live on this patch of land. I like the climate, location, and infrastructure. It has little to do with the Ticos that are here. My girlfriends are mostly all from Nicaragua . I don't date Ticas for the most part. It's not a rule, just the history. If San Diego was full of beautiful young "Ticas, Nicas, & Piasas", I wouldn't even own a passport.

They allow me to live here. I don't know why or care why. I obey their laws ,pay their taxes and contribute to charity. I leave them alone and they leave me alone. I do enjoy aspects of their culture such as a typical Tico breakfast, family owned sodas, watching the Festival of lights yearly, and others I detest, such as their discourteous driving and talking during movies at theaters.

I am no Crocodile Dundee Wannabee with a leather hat thinking that I am now a Rambo survivalist or a tree hugger or some grand adventurer just because I live 30 minutes from the rain forest. I'm the same guy I was in Atlanta where I lived a good life and duplicate that life here. I choose who I associate with wherever I am and am quick to remove myself from an environment that I don't care for.

I'm not a big sports fan so I have no common interest to watch sports events in crowded bars full of drunk young Ticos. I'd rather sit in a less crowded environment and discuss things that interest me such as the safety record of aircraft engines or what Coca Cola stock is gonna do in the next 5 years.

You can delete, add, include anything you want to your post it does not change the fact that your post shows a prejudicial attitude toward native Costa Rica males.

Sure there can be drunk young Ticos in bars during sporting events. There are drunk young Americans in bars in Atlanta during Braves or Falcon games I am sure. That does not mean that all bars are full of that type of individuals either in Atlanta or San Jose and your attempt to justify your dislike of Ticos by depicting all bars in Costa Rica being frequented by those types of individuals is absurd.

There is a huge difference in avoiding "bars full of drunk young Ticos." and "although I don't frequent places full of Ticos." . Most people will avoid a bar full of drunk young men but bigots avoid a bar where the patrons are of a different ethnic group if that is their sole reason for avoiding the place.

We have a basic disagreement on this subject and I doubt that either of us will change our opinion so I will let this post be my final word on the subject.

I have not had any problem with ticos in this bar or others. Give them respect and be friendly and they will return it. I can always move or go to another bar if anyone, tico or gringo, gets too loud. No use leaving your teeth on the barroom floor just to prove that you are macho.

What was absurd was your assertion to my original post and what should be embarrassing to you is that you keep leaving off the antidote to try to justify your foolish response. Ok, we get it . You have residency. You get up at 5am on Saturday and buy your veggies. And you like to hang out with Ticos instead of Gringos. Ok , I declare you an official official local even a Tico, yourself. You can go to the embassy and renounce your USA citizenship. I'll buy you a trophy.

But as I simply stated, that is not me. I still buy my veggies at the local super just like I did in the USA and I'd rather hang out with Gringos instead of Ticos.

Your logic is that if I want to hang out with only girls and not guys is that I should pick another country.

Show me where I said dislike. Maybe I just don't have a perfect command of the language and can't keep up with the conversation or I maybe I do understand but don't want to talk about what the average Ticos at bars talk about.

What I said was a bar full of Ticos. I also don't hang out at a bar full of Chinese or a bingo parlor full of Black woman or sometimes the Del Rey when it is so smoky or a local bar where most of the people are age 20.
That does not mean I am prejudiced toward Tico males, Chinese, Black woman, College students, or everyone in the Del Rey.

It simply means I prefer to sip on beers and chat with guys that have a similar background and interest that I do.

I allowed three "Costa Rica males" to put me under and perform surgery/medical procedure on me three different times and paid cash when I could have gotten the procedure done for free under my USA insurance so I hardly suspect if I trust them with my life I would hardly be classified as prejudiced.

I said "bars full of Ticos". I didn't say 30%full , half full, or 75% full. Choosing to hang out with my peer group in a foreign country , I don't believe, makes me prejudiced.

Yeah, what is with that anyways in CR??!! I watched 3 movies in SJ (San Pedro) and geez, these people dont effing shut-up and enjoy the movie. I was on the last row and the effing CLEANING lady entered and left the theater 5 times during the movie, going into the little room at the back and banging and clanging around like crazy. Every time she opened the door a nice blast of light would shoot in. I was so pissed. She had no clue how disruptive she was being.

Yes I know a lot of Ticos and most are fine gentlemen. Two are graduates of the The United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, a number of them have served in various branches of the United States military in war time, others are business and professional men and others are just plain old hard working regular guys. If that makes me a bigger looser then you thought then I proudly plead guilty as charged.

Being members of the military just makes them stupid sheeple. I guess you are guilty as charged.

For those who are relatively new to this board and have no knowledge of what a prejudice jerk CVCap is just read page three of this thread. That should enlighten you.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35509

First it was Ticos and now it is the men and women who proudly serve the United States by being members of the military service. He seems to ignore the fact that while the Constitution gave him the right of free speech which he uses to denigrate people it is the soldier who guarantees that right.

What is particularly upsetting is the timing of his insult to the men and women of the armed service. The day we honor those who gave their lives in defense of jerks like CVCap was just 3 days ago.
