Buzzfla and myself took two Ticas there last week, and it was as good as the last trip. Excellent food! The bill came to about $52 for two people, including a few beers. I plan to eat there every trip in the future.

I did not post a review, and was here about six weeks ago. It was my first time, and frankly, I had low expectations due to some of the comments. I had the Parilla, and it was actaully very, very good. The Morcilla was juicy and full of bloody goodness, a couple of the steaks were very full flavored and cooked perfectly (good beef as well), and the organ meats (Heart and kidneys) were crunchy and rich, as they should be. I ate about half of it, and shared some with a couple of French girls at the bar. They wind up buying me drinks (as an aside, I worked fairly hard to get one of them to come back to La Amistad, but could not close the deal. I have phone number for a chica Paris- gee, think I will hold on to that one      )...Anyhow, even with the chicas working on it, there was plenty of leftovers. I think it was 23 bucks.

The house red was nice, and very inexpensive.

Highly recommend..

I've been there 5 o 6 times. Always excellent food and attention. The owner a bald skinny argentinian runs a tight ship there. If you have a complaint make sure to look for him and he'll correct it in a second.

My favorite dish the is the Falda, very thin slice of meat cooked just right.

I think you mean the 'entrana'. Its called the 'skirt steak' in english, but dosen't translate to 'falda' for conventional purposes.

It has location going for it as its close to the gulch - Its OK to pretty good, but there are better options IMO - Donde Carlos and La Cascada.

Food is like some of the other things we post about on this board - highly subjective; however there are some, based on this thread that I would not ask for a res't recommendation

I ate here with a favorita for the first time on my last trip in May & thought it was quite good. I had the Lomito Porcini, & although I'm not a huge steak eater, it was great. She was less than happy with her seafood dish, but I was very pleased. Had the orange/chocolate mousse for postres & thought it was excellent. Will be going back when I'm there again later this month.

I'm sure this hooker has a very discerning palate.

Seriously though, stick with the ENTRANA and fries. I've said it a number of times in this thread. Everything else there is inconsistent.

Ok, not to hijack the thread, but since the Sportman's has those high end steaks, should a special effort still be made to hit LEDBA? I mean are there other intriguing things about the place, like a great wine list or very nice ambiance (And no I will not be dining with a hooker, but perhaps after a visit to the IDEM) Anyone care to comment; The Sportman's Delmonicos against the general high quality beef at La Esquina?

Timbo,
I have had steaks @ both. I don't think you can compare the two for ambiance, but they both work well in situations as needed. I enjoy both, but hell if Esquina is good enough for CvCap, I guess you can't go wrong, unless he brings you to his casa for a "feeding".

I like the restaurant and the ambiance is great but I go to BA all the time and it would never make it there.

Finally, together with two other CRTs; Maximus and one unnamed brother ( I shall christen BatBoy, due a past affiliation with one of the Ranger Bats), were able to sample the good food offerings at La Esquina Del Buenos Aries. The food definitely rates close to a 10 as far as tenderness and quality. I had the Lomito, basically a Filet Mignon and it was cooked to a perfect Medium Rare. The other guys both had the 14 oz. New York Strip, the name in Spanish escapes me, but the menu is bilingual so it shouldn’t be an issue. The plate is served with a small salad and small roast potato on the same plate, but the steak is the real focus here. BatBoy and I shared a nice Argentinean Mulbec for about $36 bucks and the bill came to about 51,000 colones including service, which was not w/o flaws; specifically due to an order of French Onion Soup that was completely forgotten by the waiter, who seemed a little distracted, but it was not a major problem and it was Sunday, so the A Team had the day off. All and all, a great value for the money and Highly Recommended as a break from your normal mongering activities. :D :D
