Just found a 220 dollar fare from Orlando to Medellin for June. Unfortunately it's on Spirit which is the shittiest of all airlines I have flown. For that price I might still do it and make my maiden voyage there.

I've never flown Spirit... I'm still a little timid. You're right, it's just $220 if you don't take any bags and take whatever seat they assign you. Go for it!

Your right 220 is a good fare but tack on another 40 for baggage. We drove down to Ft lauderdale a few weeks ago to catch our flight to Cartegena. Both were delayed for a few hours. We even beat the flight back from Ft Laud. to Orlando..and yes it was a shitty experience.

The Spirit flight to Medellin connects in Ft. Lauderdale. JetBlue flies direct from Orlando to Bogota. I've flown the Spirit flight one time to Medellin and didn't have any issues. Actually a good flight and right on time.

Spirit is a discount airline, so expect what you get. That said, there are ways to game the system. I now have the second best seat in my profile because I went on them with a friend from FLL who has their card and miles to boot. So without paying extra, I now get that seat if available.

Second, if you want to take luggage, last I checked it was $30 carryon and $30 each checked. The $9 club costs $59.99/yr, and you save $10 per piece. Also eligible for the deeply discounted fares.

My experience is not great. 3 flights, first didn't have enough time to make the connection, second return was good, but we had a old gajo plane that had to be fixed so we were 3 hrs late.
