Cipro is an extremely powerful antibiotic--to take it as a mere preventive is border-line irresponsible, as is the over-use of antibiotics overall. Diacort is the answer. My Bona fides for the above statements: I was at the Trenton N. J. Postal Facility when that nutjob mailed anthrax through. The result of this was, I and the others had to take Cipro for 100 days (an unprecedentedly long time--we were guinea pigs). Net Result: Weakened joints and enamel stripped off our teeth. This (Cipro) is in the last class of antibiotics to be developed that weren't so toxic they didn't also assault our livers and other meat organs. We can't afford to lose the effectiveness of this class of antibiotics just so somebody's tum-tum doesn't get unwell.
