I'm a newbie, but am looking to make the plunge over 4th of July weekend. Not sure how available the ladies are for a two day excursion to Arenal?

Any ideas?

How is your Spanish? How is your "game" ? How long will you be in SJO prior to heading to Arenal? Have you been to SJO before? For me I wouldn't do it on my first trip, besides that weekend there are a lot "good fellas" in town, I would stay in SJO and check out the scene first, then maybe if you find the "right one" you could set it up for your next trip. It would suck major if your'e sick and tired after 18 hours, she wants to go home or you just can't tolerate the tone of her voice etc., etc., etc., Good luck though!

If its your first time your rolling the dice... If I could have afforded it I would have taken a Chica with me to the beach on my first trip..It will take a little extra work but it can be done..

Here's my advice.. Some of the vets might throw out some more advice for you if you are seriously considering this..

1. Make sure you interview as many Chicas as possible!! (maybe 10 or more) Since your going down for a weekend..Id advise you dedicate a whole day for your search..( you need more then a day)
2. CR is all about game.. so I don't know if I would mention your intentions of a road trip with them off the bat.. just feel out your chemistry. session with her.. make a list and put her on it...maybe even rank her..
3. Once you think you've made your pick.. session with her again.. mention the trip during the interview for the second session...compare the session to the first..did it get better?? if it did you might have your winner....
4. Set a price and don't don't budge. no matter what! NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!
5. have your trip planned out (location, hotel, mode of transportation, dates). don't disclose all the exact details...just enough to let her know your serious and not just throwing out an idea..
6. see how she responds to the idea...let her know your serious.. if she seems uninterested or not sure.. MOVE ON..NO MATTER HOW FINE SHE IS!!!
7. once you've made your decision make sure you have a back up Chica just in case she flakes the day of...this means repeat steps 2-6 with your back up
8.. If she agrees to go with you and shit goes south have a contingency plan.. I.E. put her ass on the bus if she acts up..as matter of fact buy a return bus ticket for her before you leave San Jose!!

generally if you have no prior history with a Chica.. A trip to the beach or the mountains means more "money"/ "work" then usual for them... This could be in your benefit.. dont forget your the employer i.e the BOSS.. act like it ...but be a gentlemen of course..( She needs your money more then you need her, remember this!!!)

It's gonna cost you some bucks and some time.. but IMO it can be done..Shit you might just have the best time of your life!!!

Good points Perro Z, but it would make easier reading if you used "you're" instead of "your" as the conjuction for "you are".

I agree with Perro Z with one exception....it is not all about your game there...it is about your wallet..that being said.

Last July I planned a beach trip early in the week (slow time for the chicas) with a long time favorita. She had never ever done anything prior to make me think she would flake out...the day we were to leave, she has a "Chica Eruption" and wants to change the terms (read $ and payment schedule) of the deal. I immediately hung up on her and called the hotel at the beach (Banana Azul, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca..big shout out to those guys) Banana Azul's cancellation policy is brutal...I was on the hook for three nights. I told them I would pay for the room, but would appreciate if they would make the effort to rent it and let me off the hook. They said they would try...they did, and didn't charge me. I told them I would recommend their place in the future for what they did for me...moral of the story: Have a plan "B" and plan "C". Try to find a place to stay with a flexible cancellation policy b/c even the most calm, sane chica can, at any moment lose her composure and ruin the whole trip. Also, if you are on the trip with her and get a gut feeling that things aren't going well, immediately send her packing..don't ruin your trip to try to salvage something that aint gonna work out.

Thanks for the advice guys! I will be at SL and already have them giving me advice on transportaion and hotel for a night up there. I get to CR on the 27th(Thurs) and plan to interview through Sunday for a Monday/Tues. excursion. I speak enough Spanish to get by. The "your the boss" advice was classic and correct! This board really rocks!

Also if possible do an overnight stay together in San Jose, spend enough time with her to see if she flakes out or just bores you. Also do not pay until the end of the trip. if she balks (next).

Even if you have everything correct there is a 50% chance she does not show the day of. They never want to say no and would rather just not show or have an emergency the day of.

Although I would never suggest letting a chica dictate terms, I have to ask. If you had wound up on the hook for those three nights, what would that loss have been compared to any upcharge your "longtime favorita" was trying for, or would likely have settled for? Just curious and playing devil's advocate.

It would have been a wash in $ terms..but I didn't want to set bad precedence b/c word gets out quickly if you let them work you over. I would rather hold up my end of the deal with a legitimate business than play games with a chica.
