WE NEED to make the security gaurds work instead of just stand there
when beggers are insulting people when they are eating in the restaurant
and trying to relax in restaurant

there has been this small K*D calling woman muchachas gordas
and cursing f... etc when they don't feel like being a bank.

these K*ds are causing guests for get frustrated and one day a guest
is going to give one of these K*ds a broken nose

so let's keep on mgt when your staying at hotel. to have security
gaurd protect the enviorment and protect us from what we might do and these
punks.

what is the guy getting paid for anyway. and i'm sure mgt of hotel doesn't want these K*ds yelling into there hotel and abusing the guests.

Can't be any worse than the morning last September when a 50ish Tico stood in the middle of Central Ave and started yelling at all of us at the News Cafe about "PUTAS Y AMERICANOS" etc, etc.

The thing we all need to realize about security guys in Costa Rica is this:
Most of the crimes (that I know of) committed against gringos INVOLVE security guys. These are the guys that tip off thier cronies about an American who has money and frequents a certian place at a certin time.
Later, when asked, the guard knows nothing and saw nothing.
the other thing is that they are very hesistant to hassle or chase off one of thier own since the guy that the begger is bothering is "just a gringo".

I agree with you guys, there is nothing more upseting than being sitting at the windows side and having a black dude with his mini guitar mumbling who knows what part of a "song".

What I did was to call the municipal guards and have him taken away, but guess what? 3 minutes later another lady showed up

Finished my meal and moved on.

Guess I haven't been in CR as often as some of the other posters but I kind of figured it was part of the CR experience. Yeah it's a pain but you finish your meal and move on.

The only time I was concerned was when the "American" college K*D approached me and my chica between the Pres and BM. He was quite aggressive and I didn't want to get into it, even with a considerable size differential in my favor. Just about pissed my pants though when my chica told him in perfect English to "Phuck off".

On my last trip I tried something different than on my previous trips...


I sat on the inside part of the news cafe furthest away from the street
people and I quietly and peacefully enjoyed my meal while talking to some crt guys.

If this dude wasn't black would it have been okay?

Hey Osgood. Maybe you won't have to ko him, but definitely look him in the eye and let him know it's a damn good possibility. I always decline things politely at first, but there have been a few times I've bowed up on the street people and I think they knew I wasn't playing. And of course there are a few rough types in the gulch that will handle anything for you for 5000 colones or so.
