Presidente, great location. Easy walk to the shopping, DR... Easy cab to SL (at night), easy walk to SL during the day. Around the corner is the dry cleaner... you can get a kilo cleaned for 1500c which is ready the same day... you drop it off, they'll deliver it back to you at the Pres (don't pay those dry cleaning fees from the hotel). This is how I keep my packing to just one carry-on. : )

Paco where exactly is this cleaners?

About that dry cleaner around the corner--Will they only deliver to the Prez or also to other Gulch hotels?

Out the front door, make a left out the front door, left at the street. Walk down to the "big street"... Look across that big street and you'll see a white sign with a yellow oval. I think the name is "Jose Paulo" written in red on the yellow oval. Its directly next door (Jose Paulo is a dress shop).

They open M-F at 8am, Sat at 8:30. Get it in early and it'll be ready by 2pm. Very dependable, been going there about 4 years now.

Thanks Paco.
I do have one complaint about the Hotel Presidente which slipped my mind. Regular guests can leave a bag in storage, I've done so for years but last trip noticed someone had apparently picked the little combo-lock and pilfered through my bag and stole some items like my after shave which is expensive down there. Should have notified mgmt. but who knows when it happened during my 4 month absence and I was occupied with other things. So beware if leaving anything valuable in storage there, friggen thieves.

I never thought of checking my bags with them... I do this at hotels in the states... (I travel to NY alot and leave a small bag at my favorite Marriot)... just toiletries and a change of clothes.

But, thanks for the 411, all should take notice.

I do want to clarify my posting about the Presidente. I was there about 5 years ago and I will be returning to San Jose later this year. When I was there, the room given to me was really bad. I had searched the Board for suggestions at that time and the Presidente came up as one of the best. I could not believe how bad the accommodations were. The worse part of it was the amount of smoke in the room; it made me gag.

Apparently, from reading the different posts, it appears that the Presidente is now much better.

Regardless, is the mansion wing of the Sportman a step up from the Presidente? It appears that Hotel M is the best and I assume it is also chica friendly.

Thanks for all of your replies

Opinions will differ so check their websites and look for yourself.

You'll have to find hotel M site on your own but think their rooms run about 200/night

Thing about Hotel M is the Chicas at the bar are by invitation only ( as I understand it)--kinda like La Mansion in Medellin. A prime site thus prime Chicas. Los mejor but like the hotel itself, it'll cost you.
