A few trips ago, I walked over to SL in the a.m. thinking I'd try their breakfast, but was told that breakfast is only for guests...anyone know if that is still the case?

They have a table with muffins ,toast,coffee and juice set out for the guests as I remember.

What you missed was asking the bartender for a menu. There is a breakfast section on it with an associated price that they will be glad to collect from you after the meal.

I usually have the ' Real Country Breakfast' , eggs,sausage,potatoes,toast, coffee at a reasonable price.

Or you could walk over to the Castillo. I understand that the new restaurant
has a good breakfast including omelets,pancakes, eggs Benedict etc.

Thanks, I always stay at the Castillo, so wanted something a bit different for breakfast.

I also stay at the Castillo and will either go to SL or hike down to the colonial casino for the steak and eggs breakfast.

Never tried the Colonial, but have become a fan of the breakfast buffet at the Del Mar. Will try the Colonial when I'm down in May. I hope that my problem with breakfast at SL was an isolated incident. I was told in no uncertain terms that if I was not a guest, I couldn't have breakfast there. I really didn't understand, since I have lunch & dinner there regularly & have never stayed there.

I'm sure they were talking about the table of juices, fruits, breads and coffee that is complimentary for guests. Shirley and Shirley and Andrea work mornings and none of them is really great with English. A misunderstanding.

You can always order off the menu and breakfast is available all day (until 11:00pm).

Agree. Anytime I miss breakfast at La Amistad by waking up too late. I go down to the SL and have the Country Breakfast. Great source of protein for your “leche”.

Non-guests are welcome at SL for breakfast.
You have to make contact with the bartender to take your order.
You can chose from the buffet or order a cooked to order breakfast from the menu.

The buffet is free for SL guests, for sale to others. Everyone pays for cooked breakfasts.

There are always at least a few CTRers around every time I have popped-in for breakfast. Always makes for nice conversation and is much easier to converse than later in the day.

If you are staying at Castillo, I can recommend the las Palmas for breakfast. The menu is very similar to that at SL. The food is good, reasonably priced and the service excelent.

The breakfast at Del Mar is excellent. If I have breakfast there in the AM I don't have to have another meal all day! It is also entertaining to watch the fellows walk in with their TLNs from the night before. I usually think to myself, "Either the fellow was very drunk the night before or she is not a morning person and was looking much better 8 hours earlier!" JeJeJe!

yes, the free breakfast is for guests only, no hotel will allow outsiders to come in and eat their food for free.

but you can order breakfast off the menu. it was probably a misunderstanding. next time, ask for a menu and order what you want. i have eaten breakfast there a couple hundred times and i haven't stayed there since 2006.

So does the Sl have gallo pinto on the free breakfast or is that ordered off the menu?

The free breakfast is just fresh fruit, juiceand cofee. And maybe some cereals, but I don't remember.

You can order one of the breakfast plates, they all come in pinto.

Toast and yogurt, too.
