Stay in one of them last year, I think it was room #18, humongous room size. King size bed, fridge, good shower/tub combination. Got a small fridge, microwave, hot plate, kitchen sink, and toaster. Not bad for the price.

Pick up the phone and call Castillo. I have found that their e-mail service can be spotty. Manager Darren or Marta will take care of you.

I always stay in Room 18, & that's a perfect description. Awesome price with the CRT discount.

Many, many times it's best to use a hotmail.com; yahoo.com; or gmail.com email address due to the spamming that comes out of the monopoly ISP in Costa Rica and makes it's way to the dreaded international black list of spam email servers. Why? Because the major accounts like AT&T; COMCAST; RoadRunner; etc. reject the email and it just never gets to you. The Yahoo; Hotmail; and Gmail stuff always arrives from Castillo and other Costa Rica "blacklisted" mail servers. Go figure.....

http://www.dnsbl.info/ and this is just one of many sites that work to stop spam.....it's just too bad that Hotel Castillo gets on the list but...hey....there's your workaround.....make an account with one of three others.....it's free.

Hello Pierre,

Room #11 on the second floor is immense. Tall windows in the living room/dinette/kitchen overlook the street and provide loads of daylight. The kitchenette is equipped with a small fridge, microwave, sink, hot plate, toaster and even a blender. The bedroom has no windows to the outside, but oes have a window into the living room area. The bathroom joins the bedroom via a small dressing area; the bath itself is equipped with a two-(three?) person jacuzzi and an excellent shower. The king bed is very nice. The suite's lockbox is located under the night table on the far side of the bed, and the room is equipped with a 19" TV (which I never used). Service at the Castillo is very friendly, and it's tough to beat the price with the CRT-VIP and cash discounts. :D Marta at the front desk is a gem, and the independent restaurant attached to the hotel is reported to be very good, with daily lunch specials. Also, it's almost next door to New Fantasy massage and around the corner two blocks from the Sportsmen's Lodge. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Room #11 at the at the Castillo and will stay there again. HTH.

I stayed in the suite once & had to move...very nice room, but no AC. That's a deal breaker for me, even in SJ's relatively cooler temps...
