JetBlue To Begin Service To Costa Rica March 26
Inside Costa Rica

JetBlue has announced regular service to Costa Rica from Florida, beginning on March 26. The airline says it will begin flying regular daily round trips between Orlando and San Jose. The airline will be using its 100 sear Embraer E190 jets on the route and will offer connecting service to San Jose from 14 cities, including New York, Boston, Washington and Austin, Texas.

Costa Rica will be the ninth country served by JetBlue, continuing the airline's push into Latin America. JetBlue also says the new route bolsters its Orlando focus city. San Jose will be JetBlue’s 22nd nonstop route from Orlando. In a press release, JetBlue says it "will further expand its commitment to Central Florida" with previously announced new service to Bogota, Colombia, and to Nassau in the Bahamas.

"JetBlue is picking up the route from Dutch carrier Martinair, which pulled out of Orlando earlier this year,” the Orlando Sentinel writes in its Tourism Central Florida blog. Steve Gardner, the executive director at Orlando International, says JetBlue's Costa Rica route "further establishes our city as a gateway to the Latin American markets."

JetBlue notes that it still must get the OK from the Costa Rican government operating authority before it can begin the service, but Costa Rican officials sounded supportive of the new route. "The United States is still our biggest market, and the arrival of JetBlue and its new Orlando route opens new possibilities for Americans to visit us and for Costa Ricans to have more options to visit the U.S.," Costa Rica Tourist Minister Carlos Ricardo Benavides said.

I just got onto their website, and looked at their price(s) for a couple different dates in April. It looks pretty good. The daily (direct) flight departs Orlando at 10:05 a.m. and arrives into SJO at 11:14 a.m. The return flight departs SJO at 12:09 p.m. and arrives into Orlando at 5:19 p.m.

Cost is $99 each way - $260 all in! Looks like us Floridians will have another great option for flights to SJO. It'll be nice, not having to drive 2.5 hours to Miami for my usual AA flight. Let's hope Jet Blue's service is satisfactory. :?

MG

If they have the TV's at each seat on it's awesome, it makes the flight go so much faster. Not that you Floridians have a long flight. But in the past, on international routes (DR/PR), I believe they couldn't turn on the DirecTV service.

Most of the surveys I've seen show Jet Blue in the top 3 for customer service. It always seems odd that the cheapest airlines, like SouthWest and Jet Blue are able to consistently score so high in customer service.

Around the middle of June, Jet Blue is changing their MCO-SJO schedule to leaving Orlando at 8:15PM and arriving in San Jose at 9:19PM. And the return flight leaving San Jose at 9:50AM which arrives in Orlando at 2:56PM. At first I really didn't like the schedule change as it feels like I'm paying the same for a hotel room but missing out on a day, and the return trip means waking up much earlier in the morning. However, after some time I realized it will allow me to work a full day on my departure date (might have to spring for Fly Clear to speed through security at MCO) and hopefully beat rush hour traffic on the way to Alajuela for the return flight.

One of the reasons for for higher customer satisfaction is that the passengers realize they get what they pay for! If you are paying top dollar, you are NOT inclined to put up with crap. If I fly SWest, I expect "some crap".

For me...it is the same as Spirit...I KNOW what I am paying for! I'm in Ft Myers, so I am 2 hours from FLL or 2 1/2+ from MCO, depending on time of day.

The TVs are a definite winner, never flown them international though, only to JFK and Long Beach.

The thing is that JetBlue is no different from the big guys IMO. I have no had to put up with any crap. They care about their customers. The CEO actually sometimes flies with the public.

Don't believe I have ever seen Spirit ranked anywhere near Jet Blue and Southwest in customer satisfaction. In fact they usually are at the other end of the list.

JB & SW show that high prices do not necessarily mean good customer service.

I think size is a very important factor. Some smaller airlines are able to instill a sense of ownership in their employees while many larger carriers have disgruntled employees due to certain action they have taken in the past.

As Texas&Vegas says: It is so nice to have enthusiastic employees!!

A week or so ago, one air line applied or was going to apply for permission to install pay, thats right it finally happened, Pay Toliets on flights For some reason I thought it was Jet Blue. Never flying them I am not worried for now and did not pay much attention to details of the story.
I saw this on my daily read of Goggle News, I think it was the business section. But details of which flights I do not remeber.
Hopefully it will not be this flight.
Please correct me if I am wrong or you have more details on that story : :D

I read a story last week that RyanAir, a European discount airline, was considering the pay toilets. Of course, in a press conference last year RyanAir's CEO said they were considering a blow job service in business class. If they do install the pay toilets I see Spirit trying to do the same in no time.

It was Ryan Air a low cost Irish Airline that operates in Europe. It was a "trial balloon" and from what I have heard it did not get very far off the ground.

It was all a PR stunt by RyanAir.
Their outspoken CEO is an expert at genertating free publicity for his airline! You should hear him MF Airbus whenever he comes to Boeing to collect the keys for a new airplane!

MG-

I'd still like to see a departing flight time closer to the one in Miami. Not much difference on leaving at noon or 3:30, but those extra hours on the day you leave can come in handy.

Crap. That blows. The timeframes they have now are absolutely perfect. When I saw the times and everything, I was floored, just amazing for check-in and check out times for the hotel, for traffic for me to airport. That comes as disappointing news.

thank you for correcting me on the air line. The PR stunt sounds right. Also was this not the air line last summer/ fall that would not honor tickects unless bought on there own web site? People show up at airport with confirmation number, paid tickects and they had to rebuy tickects to fly and get refund for the on-line travel service they used .( Orbitz type company) Got more then a few person's a little pi** off. Pay toliets would do that also for me.
Just to be safe I add then to my own DO NOT FLY list

Jetblue is by far my favorite airline. I tried to get on the website the other day and check fares for SJ and for some reason it was not processing my request or sold out the weekend I looked. I will try again.
