 Post subject: Automobile Racing Tracks

Are there any amateur road race tracks in San Jose or close by. Is it a reach for a skilled tourist to be able to drive a race car at any of these amateur tracks?
50 has some Drag strip and Road racing skills he acquired in his youth!

The only track I know of is La Guacima north of San Jose, you may have noticed it from your plane upon arrival.

Flew over the track today. the place was empty. Not even anyone practicing. maybe something will be happening tomorrow.

I've wondered the same thing. I'm an amature SCCA racer here at home and that sure is an awesome looking track that we fly over every trip...

I don't see any info about "track days" or such. Perhaps with an FIA license one could rent a seat for a race? Hmmm..... :?: :wink:

Damn! Memo to self. Next time dont forget protective flameresistant racing suit, racing boots, racing helmet, jock strap, racing gloves. This time if I can not acqure these items by renting them as a part of a package to drive ne of the lihtweights i will be watching from the Pit Area for sure.

I don't think that the ticos would have a suit that would fit me...
At 6'2" and 250lb I'd better pack my own. :o

Then again, unless they can move the seats in those cars, I wouldn't probably wouldn't even fit in the car! :x
