Otherwise your not living, your just existing...

I'm sure if Bo had a choice as to how to die?

In bed sick or riding his Harley......
We ALL know what his answer would be.

RIP Bo

Sorry, did not realize you were making a point. When I read..

Quote:
Why would anybody in their right mind ride a motorcycle in San Jose? :? :? :?

...I thought you were asking a question. Guess that? at the end of the sentence threw me off.

So I take it that you've never heard the phrase "why would anybody in their right mind _____?"

Yes, there's a question mark but it's more of a rhetorical question.

If the guy was smart enough to ride a Harley he was smart enough to know how to ride. Rice rocket riders are different than hog riders. Different bikes, different styles. I have to agree with El Silencioso, Bo would not have been a dare devil type.

Is anyone going to the Memorial Service at the home in Tibas?

IceColdOne I just read your post.

People who have have been around motorcycles a lot understand clearly that it is not IF you will go down it is when will you go down. I was pretty lucky that my crashes were minor. As careful as I was, the crashes still happened.

I was a research assistant years ago on a US Dept of Transportation study into motorcycle crashes. They almost always happen at an intersection and they are almost always the fault of a person driving a car. Of course that was in the US in the late 70s and in the US. Any inferences about here would not take in to account the lunacy of these drivers -- motorcycle or otherwise.

People who ride do so because they love to ride and live to ride. It is not rational thinking process. It is totally about something else. My geuss is that is what Bo was all about.

Fair enough. My answer to your rhetorical question was a rhetorical reply not a dispute of your rhetorical point.

I agree. I fully intend on dying after hearing some phrase like "shit, my husbands home"

I am sorry about Bo. He always treated me right. That said, every time I saw that Harley parked outside The Gardens it brought to mind how much moe dangerous bike riding is in CR than at home.

I'm also glad Alexandra wasn't riding with him when he got hit.
She's a very nice gal and I hope she recovers quickly, prospers and loves again.

BWAHAHAHA!

I rode my Harley to the four corners (Miami, Calais Maine, Seattle, San Diego and back to Miami) and I can _assure_ you lots of Harley riders do not have a clue how to ride.

It's not the brand or type of bike that makes the quality of the rider. It's the training, temperment and practice that determines your skill.

Condolences to Bo and his grieving SO.

Guess I’ve just had a different experience with Harley riders. Everyone I rode with knew what they were doing, had plenty of training and experience and took very good care of their bikes.

Diego, we have a new generation on 50 somethings who never rode, who have affluence, and a fear of aging. Many are buying Bikes in their mid years for ego reasons and they are going down in droves. Statistics don't lie.

Bo's accident appeared to be one that couldn't be avoided.

I've ridden since 1969 and have only gone down once. But, I frequently think about quitting for fear of doing it again. But, on a sunny Sunday, I hit the starter and hope for one more good ride.

My first mode of transportation was a 90cc sewing machine sounding 2 wheeler. That was 1970. The one I have now is a few cc's more... 1,010 more. I can spot a newbie rider a mile away. I would rather get on a dirt track with 50 other guys than risk the dangers of the SJO streets.

Berk....

My first was a Honda Super 90 in 1969.....oh the fun. That little bike took me everywhere. Back then a big bike was a BSA Starfire 250 or a Honda 350. Time, prices and expectations have changed.

My first was a Yamaha 125, graduating to a Honda 350, then a Kawasaki 1000, then a Harley.

My son was broadsided on his Suzuki 1000 rice rocket by some idiot, head-up-ass motorists who "didn't see" my son. After six months of rehab my boy walks with a serious limp. But he still rides his NEW 1000.

1969: My 13th birthday present from my parents was _permission_ to spend my own $20 for a POS Yammie 50. I then went to 100's, 250's than a couple of BSA 650's (one chopped out w/ 10" forks, wicked fast ride for its day). My last two bikes (sold a few years back to pay rent and food) were a Honda Magna V65 1100cc (Matilda) and a Harley FXRT (Aunt Bea).

Gawd I miss them all so very much.

Did the MSF Beginner's, intermediate and advanced (on the fxrt fully loaded w/ tent and all that went on the 4-corners run, just barely passed) and Penguin racing school and earned my AMA racing license.

I would not even consider riding here. Guess by my old standards I am now a pu*sy.

Ride safe y'all
