Can anybody give a recent update on the Presidente? I love staying there, but am concerned. I had to use e-mail to make a reservation because the web-site reservation system wasn't working. Then, they said that they would no longer honor the CRT membership in 2009. I made my reservations, but I'm concerned about whether they will still be chica-friendly in January '09. Comments?

Based on what has happened with the dress code and other incidents involving chicas not being let in, I would say that they are moving away from chica-friendly, and more towards fat-gringa friendly. If you happen to meet an plus-sized gringa in one of the many fast food joints around town, I'm sure you will have no problem getting her in, no matter how sloppy/indecent she looks.

I just spent last weekend at the Prez. Was also there for Memorial Day weekend, 4th of July, and Labor day weekend. Got the discount every time. I havent had to many issues getting women in the room. If they will not be honoring CRT discount in 2009 then they proceed at their own peril. They need us way more than we need them. Particularly with the decline in tourism. As I have indicated in other post there are alot of weekends in which we account for a significant % of their occupancy.

I am a fan of the Presidente but with no discount I would be amenable to other places.

Truer words never have been so spoken, was there in August I got the same impression, things certainly have changed. But I wonder with the economy in the toilet in the US, and now C.R.s being effected, if they'll have a change of heart towards the single male tourist. Nothing reigns better then the love of money.

Waving cold hard cash does have a way of getting people’s attention. But they have to get a little more-hungry here. It is turning bad but not bad enough to cause the hotels to play lets make a deal.

We went to one of those all inclusive hotels at the beach last week. When we first got there the wife tried to make a deal to stay for an extra couple of days but they would not discount the price at all.

The occupancy level was really low, hardly anyone there. It didn’t make sense. We would have added a couple of days to our stay if they would have made concessions.

By that afternoon we were glad they didn’t make a deal. It began to pour rain and continued to rain for the entire stay. For sun worshipers (which I am not) it was a drag and my little family of sun and pool devotees were glad we did not extend.

Since I am a rum (not sun) worshipper and the price of the stay included all I could drink, I bellied up to the bar and wanted to extend our stay. But after a few drinks I changed my mind. They were so watered down they were essentially virgin piña coladas or coke sin ron.

Non-alcoholic drinks and rain so heavy that I was sure each time we left the room we would be attacked by a herd of fish – glad they didn’t deal. It would have been a waste of our money.
