DFW-SJO on TACA has a few flights $369.10 Tues-Sat and Thrs-Tues in Sept. and Oct. Would much rather fly AA or CO because of the arrival and departure times, but to save $200 and get to land in San Salavador for an hour and a half. I believe a few months ago a TACA plane slid of the runway. It is reported to be one of the shortest runways in Centro America

The TACA accident was in Tegucigalpa Honduras. They made a big deal about closing the airport, to commercial jetliners, forever and moving operations to a military base about 60 miles away. Last I heard that about two months after the accident they reopened the old airport to commercial jet traffic again.

Thanks for accurate report. They are the only airline with these prices from DFW

I would not be unwilling to fly TACA based on that incident. They have a very good safety record. Unfortunately accidents happen in aviation to the very best air carriers as well as the not so good. The better ones just have less of them and I think TACA certainly qualifies as one of the better ones.

Obviously just my personal opinion. I fly TACA more often than any other carrier and feel very safe with them.

initially i was also somewhat reticent to fly an airline run by a central american company.
but after making the comparison of the ancient sleds AA and united(more so AA) i was completely comfotable w taca. definitely tico policies on some stuff but the airliners are mostly newer and with the exception of one slightly hard banked landing in sjo flawless after 10 or so trips

I have flown Taca on 17 of my 22 trips to CR, all without incident and ALL ON TIME or early....

Customer service and flight staff are the most pleasant I have ever experienced in my travels around the globe....Taca also has several brand new planes in their fleet.... Mostly A319's and A320's

I have had nothing but the best on TACA. My best incident occurred on my first trip after stopping in Guatemala. I wasnt supposed to leave the plane for the next leg but did so not knowing what the hell i was doing. Ended up going thruogh immigrations in Guatemala. Then I realized I screwed up. Just then I saw a guy wearing a TACA uniform, told him what happened and he led me through all kinds of back doors and staircases to get me where I should be. I am sure he was breaking all kinds of rules by doing that but talk about customer service.
