:D Thanks for the info Rainman! However, lil' concerned - smell?

It's old, and filled with old furniture. It has that smell that museums and old houses have. The whole suite feels antique and elegant to me.

SR

Thank you for saying that. I was in the suite across the hall from the Presidential suite "Felicidad," and I truly enjoyed the antique furnishings, particularly the settee and the phallic four-poster. The old desk too.

While the smell never bothered me, I didn't associate the smells with those of a museum. No...it smells more like an old bordello. C'mon... all that effluvium and no where to go?

Seriously, I do try to scent the air in my room. I carefully burn scented candles, spray Ozium after smoking, maybe even put a spritz of my cologne into the air.

And then there's the farting. :D

Totally Envious Sbeezy! Oct. won't come soon enough!

Going to be at the SL 10/24 thru 10/28... What, if anything, can you SL pros tell me about the Presidential suite? I've got my Wingman by 10 yrs. He's 30... Ok, so I'm using him for "bait' (not in the park -don't start  ) Noise? Action? What can I expect?

Thanks!

The number 1 tip for all who venture to the land of P4P in San Jose... the only "bait" you need is green, made of paper, and displays the portraits of various dead US Presidents. Plata, dinero, greenbacks... that's what those "fish bite". :D

Frickin' hilarious...

Thanks for tips, esp. on the scented candles... Personally, I'm not ready to be a museum piece, just yet.

Nor in fact, was Benjamin Franklin....but I get Berk's point.

Berk, I have a pearl of wisdom for you:

Money will buy a fine dog, but it won't make her wag her tail. Think about it. :P

Unless, of course, you negotiate the tail wagging up front

But your point is well taken

I didn't stay at the Sportsmen's Lodge my first trip last summer because I didn't really understand how good it was. There was just too much information here on CRT. However I ended up there most days for lunch.

I've stayed at the SL every trip since then, and it's the best place in San Jose in my opinion. Great ownership and staff and there's no better place to get advice from the veterans.

What's the bottom line at SL these days as far as room rates?

$60-150 depending on which room? Plus tax? 10 percent off for VIP?

I always stop in there and hangout, get a massage, take a gal to go, have a meal, drink beer, shots, b.s. with the guys & gals, watch the game, have a cigar....often all in the same day.

but I have never booked a room. They seem so varied.

illusion is the worst imo, early morning mongers sitting at the computers outside your window recounting their exploits from the previous night or talking about where they are from. they need to soundproof the window and the wall to make it tenable.
that landing is just up from the bar outside the window and it is also a spot the 3am DR crowd seems to like to stop and have a drunken wrestling match or verbal smackdown. ugh once was more than enough

Bill took me and 3 other guys on a tour of the new building today. It is, in a word, gorgeous. The whole area is designed to be a little more quiet and laid-back. Every one of the rooms is stunning, and they exhibit a little more diversity than the current rooms (jacuzzi tubs in different locations, different furniture in every room, one room has a kitchen, etc.).

The materials in these rooms and the common area are top-notch, and the whole building has a very opulent feel. Bill confirmed prices from $109 - $159, with the largest and most expensive being the two-bedroom suite. There are plenty of flat-screen TV's throughout, including at least one in each suite. The common area is more like a lounge than the restaurant/bar in the main building. Long sofas, plenty of coffee table space, and recessed mood lighting. Access will be semi-restricted to keep the noise levels down, but if you're staying in this section, you'll be able to bring girls and maybe a friend or two over for drinks at the bar. Bar hours will be 5 p.m. through 10 p.m.

Bill stated that he would post here and in other forums as soon as he is ready to accept reservations for these rooms. I expect the occupancy rate for these rooms will be quite high.

I totally concur. The new "mansion" rooms are phenomenal! There are a total of 8 new rooms, every room different from the other. The common area with couches, flat screen tv's, new bar, etc is going to be fantastic. Plus the new sauna and massage area is a nice touch.

Srilm is correct on the pricing. They may cost a little more than many of the rooms in other hotels, but IMHO you get what you pay for. Plus Bill will honor the CRT discount. There'll always be less expensive rooms throughout the existing parts of the SL that you can book, if you don't want to pay more for one of the "mansion" rooms. But the new rooms, along with the craftsmanship and upscale furnishings, are (IMHO) comparable to some of the rooms at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

And if money's a concern, there's always Nuevo Johnson or CCI, Inc! But personally, I'm looking forward to staying in one of the new rooms on my next trip. My biggest concern is that you phuckers will have them all booked when I go to make my reservation!

MG
