I would like to find a "CLEAN HOTEL"

1) Allows "free" local phone calls and free internet.
2) No chica fee
3) 60 or less dollars a night
4) Is near Hotel del ray and the sportsman's lodge.
5) Your Own bathroom, NOT SHARED.
6) HAS aIR CONDITIONING

What hotels would that be guys :)

Other perks i would like but "not neccessary" would be free shuttle bus, free breakfast, Safe box, security, people on staff that speak english fluently and has a pool :)

The best overall value & location is Hotel Morazon IMHO.

By and large, your requirements are a bit unreasonable. You can get most of what you want, but you're going to have sacrifice a few things.

The Morazon has everything except the free phone calls. Probably your best bet. They don't have internet either, so you can't use a VOIP solution. With taxes, the morazon is close to $60.

The standard room at Casa Vino will meet your requirements.

Mr. Boring,

The previous replies are good ones. Here's my two cents:

Hotel la Amistad: Free local calls, some English spoken by staff, free breakfast, Internet, less than a two minute stroll to the Sportsmen's and about a 850 colones ($170) taxi ride to the del Rey. Nice rooms, new beds, A/C. In your price range. No chica fees.

Hotel Presidente: $55.00 room, free breakfast, WIFI, no chica fees but limited to one guest at a time. Casino on premises. Local phone calls I believe are cheap but not free.

Both hotels mentioned have safe boxes. Both are convenient to the del Rey (see above) and/or SL.

Casa Vino is a terrific bargain, but think of it more as a private apartment rather than a hotel. Internet and free calls, yes. Safe box, yes. A/C, yes. Free breakfast? Yeah, if you make it yourself. :D

I've never stayed at either Morazan or Castillo and cannot comment on either, but I have stayed at Casa Vino, Sportsmen's, Amistad and the Prez. Hope this helps.

Amistad meets all 6 of your requirements.About half a block from Sportsmans and 2 blocks or so from DR. What more do you want? Nothing else is that close.

1) Allows "free" local phone calls and free internet. - Hotel Amistad, Casa Vino
2) No chica fee - All hotels I mentione
3) 60 or less dollars a night. Presidente with CRT discount, AMistad with CRT discount, Morazan with coupon clipped from the Tico Times free newspaper
To get the discounts, you will need to join V.I.P. here at https://costaricaticas.com .
d

4) Is near Hotel del ray and the sportsman's lodge. - All hotels mentioned. Amistad and Casa Vino are closer to the Sportsmen's, Morazan and Presidente are both closer (easy walking distance) from the del Rey.
Amistad and Casa Vino, Amistad is closer (1 - 1/2 blocks) to the SL. Both are about a $1.70 taxi ride to the del Rey.

5) Your Own bathroom, NOT SHARED. - All hotels mentioned.

6) HAS aIR CONDITIONING
All hotels mentioned.

What hotels would that be guys :)

Other perks i would like but "not neccessary" would be free shuttle bus Not available for any hotel in the Gulch.
, free breakfast, Amistad, Hotel Presidente
Safe box, - All mentioned.

security, people on staff that speak english fluently - All hotels mentioned have some English-speaking staff. Fluency? More or less. Certainly at the Presidente. The folks at la Amistad try with good success.

and has a pool none of the hotels I mentioned has a pool. :)

Now Mr. Boring, will you kindly tell me which part of my previous post or this one didn't answer your questions? :D

One overlooked hotel destination is Hotel Europa.

They offer all of the above including pool at your price point. Short walk to Del Rey, Sportsman, Barrio Amon during the day. Also, half way to calle 6 from Del Rey for $12 experience. At night you should take a taxi.

I stayed there two weeks ago, included breakfast eggs to order & buffet, swam laps, full room service, great lobby staff, inside (noise free) room with balcony overlooking the pool. No chica fee. Multiple guests were no problem. Two bars. Lots of ecotourists, locals, and friends of ours with friends of theirs.

I am going to stay at the Europa www.hoteleuropacr.com (i think & if not just Goolgle it) again in a few weeks or at Casa Conde...

Elroy,

Does the Europa offer free local phone calls and Internet? Also, the last time I checked rates there, the least expensive room I was quoted was $70.00 plus 16.39% hotel tax...which would be well above Mr. Boring's stated price point of $60.00/night. :?:

What did you pay per night? Lockbox in room?

TIA! :D

Guys, remember that there's a 17% tax per night, so a $55 room is really a $65 room. to be under $60, you have to be under $50. You might get that with a CRT discount at some places, but you're not going to find everything on the list easily. Most of the places mentioned are $50 and up.
