With airlines cancelling hundreds of flights has anyone had their flights to SJO cancelled? That sucks more than my novia.

Think they are mostly domestic flights. If you had a connection on one of them you might be screwed.

yesterday Apr. 9th American 971 the early flight from MIA was canceled.

Last night I was talking with a brother in the BM who should have been on it. He got lucky beacuse there were seats available on the late flight, he told me about a 10 hour delay overall.

If you have a flight coming up go to your reservation or the website and see if you can find out what aircraft flies that route. From an article I read it looks like the MD-80 is the plane being canceled most.

Quote:
Tierney is referring to the safety order issued on the Boeing Co. MD-80 aircraft that have been grounded by American, Midwest and other airlines in recent days. The FAA issued an airworthiness directive on those planes after reports of shorted wires, evidence of worn-down power cables, and fuel system reviews conducted by the manufacturer. It was effective Sept. 5, 2006, and the airlines had 18 months to comply.

Oooooooh Monterey. Bet you could drive there from San Antonio or South Tejas. Is safe? Is there an autopista entre Matamoros y Monterey??

I know the cancellations have inconvenienced many but at least they are trying to come clean and repair a very dangerous error.

I will keep flying them and if cancelled I would try and reschedule or make alternate arrangements. They've been real good to me most of the time so I have loyalty to them and will hang in during their tough times.

In 2004 flew them 2X back and forth MIA-London then BA to Bahrain for the Navy and no problems at all. Few late flights out of MIA to CR and Nica but nothing else major. Flight crews very professional and pleasant.

Oh also flew them non-stop to Argentina and back without any problems.

Seems to me that AA is trying to come clean and repair a problem that they half-assed the first time around.

If they truly did have 18 months to comply, then this is poor. They grind hundreds of flights to a halt with no warning to passengers, no alternatives, and no arrangements in terms of food shelter. Yes, they did start bringing in cots and bought some fast food, but that seemed to be a more after the fact solution.

I'm biased at this point since my last AA ordeal was potentially the worst customer service I've ever received. This just screams of bad business to me.

AA flys Boeing 737 and Airbus 300 to SJO. I don't think they fly any MD-80 to SJO.
