I think I read something about a change in AA's policy here earlier, confirmed it tonight when I called AA. The price of my flights dropped, called AA for the credit, they wanted to charge me $100 to issue me a credit of $20! Muy...

I have been issued a refund for a drop in price before but I guess their policy has changed.

This morning I found out about an AA policy change, and it really sucks, especially if you’re an AA frequent flyer:
In the past, if you booked a round trip ticket with AA - and then the price on that itinerary dropped – normally they would always credit you for the difference in price. I know of several CRT members who had taken advantage of this policy in the past. Personally, I’ve gotten credits on cheaper flights numerous times over the past several years.
Well…. things have changed, and they’ve implemented new guidelines to their policy. If you book your flights (and the price drops at a later date) they will ONLY refund you the difference in price, up and above the “ticket change fee†(which usually is around $100.) In other words, if you book a round trip ticket for $400, and then (at a later date) you see it advertised for $270, they’ll only refund you $30, which is the price difference (after the change fee is applied). So basically, if the price on your flight drops $100 or less, you’re out of luck with a refund! And if the price drops more than $100, you have to eat the 1st $100, and you’re entitled to the balance of the difference. But you’d have to completely re-book your itinerary.
