I have made 12-15 trips to SJO in less than 2 years. During that time, I have almost exclusively stayed at The Hotel Presidente. During this same timeframe, I have been one of their most avid supporters and tried to help others understand the dress code was not an issue they should concern themselves with. Well listen up........................................

I WAS WRONG! The Hotel Presidente's Dress Code SUCKS

My last trip met with numerous disappointments due to the Hotel Presidente's dress code or their blacklist. At least 4 times, HDR Hotties informed me that they could not get into the Prez due to past problems. Some were concerned that they might not be appropriately dressed, but didn't want to risk the time it took to try and miss other business. Others knew they would not get in and were probably blacklisted. Still others refused to support such a place with policies like that. Gotta love those Ticas with conviction..........LOL However, two nights in a row, I missed out on a HOT Honduran and a Stunner Columbian. At least the Honduran knew she was blacklisted and tried to get me to just rent a short-time room. But I was not willing as I already had a nice room. The Columbian found out she was blacklisted when we tried to check her in. The reason I was given by the front desk guy was that her visitors badge was not returned when she visited at the end of October. She assured me that she left it in the room and the guy didn't turn it in. maybe that is true, maybe it is not. In any case, that is the flimsiest or reasons to deny entrance. I could see if she was caught ripping off some personal property, or was violent, but not returning a visitor badge......WEAK!

I tried to negotiate the situation with the front desk guy, who was also the night manager, short of bribing him. It didn't seem to matter that I have given them 60 days of business over the last year and expected the same in the coming year. But my efforts were unsuccessful and I left without a scene making sure he knew that they just lost a loyal, paying customer.

So the moral to the story is this.......The Presidente sucks! I will not say that I will never stay there again, as I might find myself needing quality accomodations when rooms are tight. But it will be one of my last choices where before it was my first. I can understand the environment they want to create for themselves, but I hope they realize that those of us on this board help keep them afloat during the slow season. I have had many memorable moments while staying at the Prez, but it is time to move on to other accomodations that are more accepting of our ways. Still not a fan of the rooms at the HDR, but Amon Plaza, Sleep Inn and a few others are still viable options.

The one thing I am becoming more aware of is my selections have changed in a direction that was never acceptable to the Prez. I started off being attracted to the classic conservative Tica look. Still Am. But now I find myself trending toward "Slutty" or as a friend of mine defines as "Easy Access". Not to mention, I would like to have a 3some in the comfort of my own room without having to limit myself to ZB for this kind of action. So my next trip is booked and I am booked into the Amon Plaza

I hope this post helps others who have been wanting an honest re-assessment from a longtime Prez supporter. Just like you would do at the HDR when a chica quotes you $150........Next!

Well, until this trip, I had no turnaways either. But the difference is this trip my turnaways were HOT and I felt cheated. I like the hotel, both key location and service, so I am a little conflicted on my feelings. But the situation just kinda soured my recent SJO experience. Additionally, I have noticed a trend toward the slutty dressed and I am certain they would not be able to get in. Still like the conservative Tica look, but interested in trying new things.

I do not blame you for a change of heart.

There are alternatives which are good hotels.

It seems that they get like this during the high season when they are at full occupancy because they don't need our business. But during the low season when the tree huggers and their fat wives don't come, they will probably relax their dress code policy.

I can't stand their attitude, even if the hotel has great amenities, which keep it in the running for a place to stay, their attitude always puts it on the back burner for me...

You may be right, there hadn't been much posted about the dress code in quite a while but just recently it appears to be back in the news. :?

Better off not sessioning with such a mercenary clockwatcher

Thanks to the dress code at the Prez I picked up a really sweet, hot chica on my last trip. (Didn't ask for $ or tip, wasn't in a hurry, took a shower before and after, etc.)

I spotted her in the Del Rey and started walking towards her when another monger beat me to her. No big deal, I took a seat nearby and overheard "Presidente", followed by a glance at her skirt and a few apologies. Perfect timing as I happened to be staying at the Morazan :D

So, she knows the dress code at Presidente is draconian and unequally applied and does not want to waste 30-40 minutes of prime time getting dissed at the Pres. Sounds like a smart chica to me, but I try not to jump to conclusions based on not nearly enough info.

40 minutes to walk two city blocks there and two blocks back? Are you sure your not thinking of the Sportsmens Lodge or a hotel even further away?

...and often for next to nothing. One of my favoritas was blacklisted because she left the hotel to go to dinner with a group and forgot to turn in her visitor card. She made a special trip the next day to drop it off but is blacklisted for the heinous transgression.

Seems simple to me. Sign in get a visitor card. On the way out turn it in, whether you are going to dinner, back to the Del Rey, or home should not matter. Without penalties the ladies would be less likely to return the card and the hotel would have less control over their property. I'm not an advocate of the policy but I understand it and don't think it's that difficult to live with.

...and don't forget being fed up with the 40 minute walk. Yeah a prostitute doesn't want my money because she allegedly might get a dirty look from a hotel clerk. I don't know who you "date" but the looks I've seen are closer to admiration or jealousy.

I have forgotten to return keys many times at many places and none resulted in me being banned. The girl was banned because they WANTED to ban her because she is a PROSTITUTE ( and because she makes more money than they do  ) ... Thanks Lookingtoswing4 and pac55 for telling it like it is. 8)

That's great, but the discussion was about visitor badges. My guess is that knowing the penalty, and that if it impacted you negatively, you would be more careful with returning a visitor badge than you are with keys.
