Does anyone know if the remodeling at the Hotel La Amistad is completed?

No, it's not. I was in SJ over the Thanksgiving period, and one day I stopped by to see how it was going there. A lot has been done since my late-Sept. stay, when the first floor was gutted, for example there's a brand-new registration desk which seemed al complete. But the bar still hadn't been put in; a wall was still to be knocked down to make the room for it. The floor also still had unfinished details. I didn't see the upper floors, so can't say anything about them.

Third floor is done but they are still doing construction on the stairs and stuff. To be honest, it's not that big of a deal because they don't start till later in the morning and by that time most people are out of the hotel.

I was through there in mid November. It was in full swing and heavy fumes from whatever. The lobby was a wreck

They are certainly going all out. My guess is that they are pushing hard to get it all done before 01-08. It is in a pretty rough state right now, but I have high expectations for the completed project.

Just got back from a stay at the SL. Construction was still going on as of 3 dec.

I just got back from CR and stayed at the Amistad. In short to answer your question, no the construction is not done yet. I talked to Carlos and he said that they are shooting for the end of December. He put me up in the penthouse for 89 a night and actually I was very impresed with the room. I'll post pictures in the VIP section later.

They are really going all out there. When the work it complete it will be a very nice place to stay and is very convienent to the SL and other venues. Just remember it isn't a complete monger hotel like the SL is so if it bothers you to take a number different girls up to your room in front of familys then you might want to reconsider. I on the other hand have little feelings and could care less who sees me do what.
