brother, it is just a different point of view. Sorry you have a problem with it.

There are some that find it interesting to talk about stuff like this.

Big picture, my view isn't that much different than yours. Have a good night.

I can only imagine how many guys go into the mongering scene not realizing how vulnerable they are... Hey, if you want to think a prostitute is your "girlfriend", more power to you. But it's just hard for me to imagine being so needy that I actually believe a working girl is my girlfriend. Not that we couldn't have mutual feelings for each other but if after a reasonable amount of time she's still working like a prostitute, well hey, she's a prostitute. Could you imagine telling your friends you have this "girlfriend" in a foreign country and then they ask you how you met and what she does? Framing in that perspective helps me be very realistic with these girls.

Sometimes these fantasies can get out of control for some guys.(they are blinded by the whole thing)Everybody has their own way of having fun in CR.If it works for you it's none of my or anybodies bussiness.Ofcourse it's important to be honest with oneself.

Ticafan, you are on the money with that. My situation is different because I live here. I feel close to some of these girls and I enjoy spending time with them. That said I would never have one on my arm at a business engagement or parade them around with my civilian married friends. I keep that part of my life in the gulch (field trips excluded of course).

All of us bang hookers. We probably shouldn't consider ANY woman to be our girlfriend.

I keep it simple. I bang lots of girls and I have lots of girl friends. I like to keep 3 of them on my first string. Three more in the developmental leagues. If one of the first stringers fucks up, I don't waste a minute cutting them off the A team. I don't miss a beat, I swap em out quick. If you put them on the self for awhile, they often come back with a better attitude. My experience is that it only gets better over time once you firmly establish in their mind that you aren't going to put up with any bull shit.

Ticafan, you are correct that the pros aren't girlfriends. But, I must say that I love that illusion during a session. Pros treat most guys right and make me feel like a million bucks, even if it is only for an hour or two.

I have a few girls that refer to me as their Novio. I have a good relationship with these girls, but they know that I am not monogamous and I have no illusions about what they are doing.

All that means is that the word novia/novio is used incorrectly by both gringos and working girls in CR.

But if you were to ask a non-prostitute for the meaning, it would be EXACTLY the same as you would define it here in the states, no gray area on this one amigo.

For the record, guys should start calling their regular prostitutes - Amantes. This is the culturally correct definition. It means lover, but on the side, and usually pay for play. Novia actually sometimes means fiance. In the latin culture, an man will have his novia or esposa, who is the mother of his K*ds. He may also have an amante, which is a chica he visits on the side... lunch breaks, weekend getaways, etc. I think most latin women assume that there is an amante hiding behind the scenes. They just don't want to see evidence of it... and you better be wrapping your rascal.

Good point. Amantes would also include mistress as well as lover. Much better word, you are 100% right!!!! It is a word that I have taken to use recently.

Novia can still be used as a term of endearment when you are with your Amante.

Interesting discussion. I agree with your response.

In a email that I responded to yesterday I asked the question, "How do Colombianas define the difference between an amantes and a novia?

I liked her answer and the word or defination of fiance' was never materialized
